Alfonso Chacon Obituary
He was born on Jan. 23, 1932, in Castolon, Texas.
Visitation will be held today from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. with a rosary said at 7 p.m. at Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels.
Mass will be held Thursday, March 19, 2009, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Joe Uecker officiating. Burial will follow at the Ector County Cemetery in the Rose Hill Garden.
Pallbearers will be Jose Luis Rodriguez, Charlie Chavez, Carlos Alvarez, Oscar Ramirez, Nick Chacon and Domingo Tavarez.
He was preceded in death by his firstborn child, Ramona Chacon; son, Alfonso Chacon Jr.; grandson, Nino Chacon; wife, Benita Chacon; parents, Nicasio and Elauteria Chacon; brother, Salvador Chacon; sisters, Dominga Gomez and Ernestina Chacon.
He is survived by seven daughters, Gloria Chavez of Odessa, Delma Alvarez of Odessa, Viola C. Ramirez of Lubbock, Graciela C. Rodriguez of Odessa, Maribel Chacon and Jacque Chacon, all of Odessa; three sons, Xavier Chacon of Lubbock, Hector Chacon and Alfonso Luis (Ponchito) Chacon of Odessa; brother, Nick Chacon of Odessa; four sisters, Guillerma Hinojos and Neri Lujan of Odessa, Luisa Biscaino of Midland and Eva Morales of Ojinaga, Mexico; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services are entrusted to Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels & Crematory.

but we're not together
which makes it unfair. Having a Papi
with a heart made of gold
is my favorite treasure which will never grow old.
I can still remember as if it were yesterday when you would come home and lay a trail of money from the front door to our (Jerry and I) bedroom to let us know you were there, or you would call and disguise your voice and make us laugh. Now I know where we get it from. :-) Still thinking about you Papi.

My deepest sympathies to all of the family. I know that it was hard for all of you to see your dad everyday in his last weeks. It must of been esspecially hard on his Gracela, having to be there early every morning to make sure that would eat his breakfast and take his meds or take him to his doctors appointments. As hard as it may have been I know that you wouldn't of had it any other way, because he would have done the same for you. I know that all the material things that he left you are not even close to the love he had for you. Now I ask that you the older children be there for the three young babies that were left without a dad and are to young to understand why. You all will have diffrent wonderful memories to share with them about your dad. Don't ever forget that your dad loved each and every one of you very much in his own way. GOD BLESS YOU!
