Frederico Subia Obituary

ODESSA When his loved ones and friends remember Frederico "Lico" Garcia Subia they'll think of his broad smile, contagious laugh and wittiness. He spent his entire life in Odessa, raising his children, working in the oilfields and being a loving son, brother, grandpa and uncle. What made him happiest was spending time with his children and grandchildren. His family will deeply miss him.

Fred was a proud, hardcore oilfield man who made countless friends and memories over his 30 years in the field. He started with Phillips Petroleum in 1972 and transitioned with DCP Midstream, where he currently worked.

Fred, 61, left us to be with his mother, father, and brother, Oscar, just after midnight Thursday, June 7, 2012.

"Lico" was born December 7, 1950 in Alpine, Texas to Librado and Elpidia Subia.

Survivors include his sons, Freddy of Phoenix, Arizona, Devon, Erik and Alfred of Odessa; daughters, Veronica and Cynthia of Odessa; brother, Orlando Subia of Odessa; sisters Belinda Perez and Valentina Subia of Odessa, girlfriend, Aurora "Ro" Sherman and special nieces Christina and Josie. Grandchildren, Lauren, Katelyn, Ryan, Nathan, Naolin, Lilly, Kyla, Xalen, Esai, Madilynn, Roman, James, Tomi Jean, Nina, Josh, Christopher, Bryan, Reuben, and Braden; and four great grandchildren.

Visitation with the family will be at 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home. Memorial services will follow at 6:30 p.m. Monday, June 11, 2012 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Craig DeArmond officiating.

The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors and staff at Medical Center Hospital and Desert Milagro Dialysis Center.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Funeral Home. To sign the guestbook, go to our website at www.sunset odessa.com.

To Fred's family,

I just hear of Fred's passing I offer my condelances.

Have not seen Fred since high school and am sad to hear about your loss. In reading comments from family and friends, it appears that Fred simply became the good man I knew he would become.

Memories of walking down Clements to/from Ector most mornings and afternoons, he would join us and there was always 'la burla' or simply laughing and cutting up...yeah he was funny but always very respectful.

I regret not having kept in touch with him.

To his family, in the book of 2nd Samuel, King David and Bathsheba lost their 1st born son and King David cried but said, "He has gone to a place from which there is no return, but one day i will go there". Fred will be there waiting for all of you, his beloved family.
