Daniel Gapen Obituary

Daniel Allen Gapen, 62, of Mapletown, died unexpectedly Wednesday, July 9, 2025, in his home. Born in Waynesburg September 17, 1962, he was a son of the late Dale M. and Helen Kulha Gapen. A 1980 graduate of Mapletown High School, he was a member of the Mapletown United Methodist Church. Daniel worked for many years with his father in construction and remodeling. Surviving are two sisters, Roxanne Stillwagon of Masontown, and Holly Bird (Joe Yurick) of Mapletown; five nephews, Jason, Joshua and Justin Stillwagon, and Travis and Andrew Bird, and their families. Private graveside services for his family were held in the Monongahela Hill Cemetery in Greensboro, under the direction of the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, with Pastor Lanfer Simpson officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be offered to Mapletown United Methodist Church, 926 Mapletown Road, Greensboro, PA 15338. Remembrances for his family may be posted at www.herod-rishel.com
