John Kouklis Obituary
He was born June 21, 1929, in Canonsburg, a son of the late Petros and Maria Stavroulakis Kouklakis.
Mr. Kouklis was an active member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, North Strabane Township.
He was a member of AHEPA Chapter 156, Canonsburg, Creton Organization and Dapper Dan Wrestling Classic.
Prior to his retirement, Mr. Kouklis was employed as a Pennsylvania building inspector.
He served his country in the U.S. Army, and was a heavyweight boxing champion in his division while in the service.
Surviving are two brothers, Steve Kouklakis and Petras Kouklakis and wife Janet, both of Canonsburg; two sisters, Elizabeth Kouklakis of Canonsburg and Stella Tsinetakes and husband John of Somerset, N.J.; beloved sister-in-law, Pap Kouklakis; nieces Maria (David) Pfaff and Lisa (Chris) Haines; nephew John (Anastasia) Tsinetakes; and great-niece and great-nephew, Sarah and Brandon Haines.
Deceased, in addition to his parents, are two brothers, Manuel Kouklakis and George Kouklakis; two sisters, Katherine Kouklakis and Helen Kairys; and brother-in-law James Kairys.
Friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday in Sollon Funeral Home Ltd., 30 East College Street, Canonsburg, J. David Sollon, supervisor, Phillip L. Sollon, director. Trisagion services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday. Additional visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., the time of service, Saturday, September 6, in All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 601 West McMurray Road, Canonsburg, with Father George L. Livanos officiating. Interment will follow in Oak Spring Cemetery, Canonsburg.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church Endowment Fund.

My condolences to the Kouklis family. John was a friend and a great supporter of high school wrestling especially his beloved Canon Mac team. I don't believe he ever missed a home or away match. I have many great memories of his passion for the sport. I will miss his contagious smile and his laugh. John told great stories and had a great sense of humor. He had great respect in the Greek community and he will be sadly missed by friends and loved ones.
