Memories and Condolences
for John McCreight

Not sure what to say?

March 17, 2016

I was a student at East Washington grade school up through much of the 5th grade when our family moved to the suburbs of Pittsburgh. John was always kind enough to include me in East Washington H.S. reunions. In the 1990s I last saw John at a Botanical Society of Western PA field trip in the Washington area. We shared a number of common interests. My deepest condolences and prayers to the McCreight family.

John was one of my very best friends and will be missed greatly! It seems like just yesterday that he and I were skiing, caving and generally enjoying bachelor life. Then we both got married. raised children, vacationed together and shared life's wonders. He was an inspiration with his incredible optimism, sense of adventure and good will to all. My family and I greatly miss him and will keep the memory of our great friend and inspiration alive! My condolences to all of his friends and relatives.

When Mildred was my sister-in-law, she was closer to me than any of my sisters. John made her very happy and I really liked the guy. They both died too young. Sincere condolences.

I knew John from the Ohio Valley Brass Ensemble when we did caroling during the Christmas season. He always had a story to tell about his numerous adventures. I always felt he was a very kind person. He was missed the last few years we caroled and he wasn't able to be there. I will always remember the time he took us to carol for his friends at this little restaurant in Washington. Blessings to his family for strength and peace during difficult times. Try to think of his many stories and adventures and smile at those memories of him.

Armanda, John, Becky, and Nancy, I will dearly miss my best man from my 1979 wedding. I had known him for several years playing together with him in the local community band. The heavens will be filled with joy and music with his spirit and the world has been made a better place by his life. May God watch over you and your family.

Our deepest sympathies on the passing of John. I was in several musical groups with John at East Washington, and I remember well his passion for music. I saw him at an East Washington reunion several years ago and, most recently, at my mother's funeral. He mentioned our musical experiences on both of those occasions.

He will be missed.
