Joyce McCartney Mitchell

Joyce McCartney Mitchell, 67, of Carmichaels, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was born March 2, 1957, in Altoona, a daughter of Donald G. and Carolyn K. Campbell Mitchell. Joyce attended Carmichaels area schools. She was an attentive and loving daughter, sister, and aunt throughout her life. Joyce enjoyed taking cruises in the Caribbean Sea and often reminisced about the beautiful beaches there. As an owner of a series of cool cars, Joyce loved taking drives around Greene County and beyond and spending quality time with loved ones. She was a longtime member of the Greene Valley Presbyterian Church in Carmichaels. Joyce is survived by her mother, Carolyn; her brother, Robert Mitchell (Susan); sister, Rebecca Jackson (Timothy); her nephew, Benjamin Jackson; and nieces, Heather Mitchell, Carolyn Brejwo, Laurel Jackson, Claire Beezhold, and Allison Moyer. She was preceded in death by her father, Donald G. Mitchell; and great-nephew, Jackson G. Beezhold. Family and friends are invited to honor Joyce's life at a visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 4, in Greene Valley Presbyterian Church, 104 E. Greene Street, Carmichaels. A memorial service will follow at 11 a.m., with the Rev. P. Keith Larson officiating.
