Wallace Grego Obituary

Wallace Grego Sr., 92, of Canonsburg, passed away peacefully, Sunday June 15, 2025, in his home, with his family by his side. He was born March 18, 1933, in Eighty-Four, a son of the late Frank and Lucy Spin Grego. Mr. Grego had lived in Canonsburg since 1956 and was a faithful member of St. Oscar Romero Parish St. Patrick Church. He proudly served with the United States Navy, receiving the Good Conduct Medal, Navy Occupation Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal, being honorably discharged as a dispersing clerk in June of 1956. Wally was a member of the American Legion Post 902 in Houston. He loved bailing hay at his son's farm and was proud that the crew called him "Hay Boss". Prior to his retirement he had been employed in outside sales with Timberline and Greif Brothers. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, was an avid cook, and spending time with his family. He loved visiting the casino, where he was quite lucky. He also loved to watch You Tube cooking videos as well as growing an extensive collection of his own hot peppers. Wallace and his wife, Joan, were members of a card club for more than 60 years, involving three other couples that they both cherished and considered family. On August 20, 1955, he married Joan Marie Klosky, who passed away April 15, 2021, after 65 years of marriage. Left behind to cherish his memory are his devoted sons, Wallace Grego Jr. and wife Barbara of Washington, Mark "Duke" Grego (Sandy "Zsas") of Eighty-Four, and Timothy Grego and wife Kimberly of Houston; his beloved grandchildren, Brittany (Michael) Ardeno and Sage (Hannah Palone) Grego; and his great- grandson, Asher Grego, his brother-in-law, Tom (Kay) Klosky; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Grego was the last of his immediate family. Deceased, in addition to his wife and parents, are his brothers, Chester and Frank Grego; and sisters, Catherine Johnston and Carmella Grego, who passed away in 1936. Friends and family are welcome from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 18, in Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra LFD, owner / supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, (724)745-8120, where departing prayers will be recited at 9:40 a.m. Thursday, June 19. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Oscar Romero Parish, St. Patrick Church, 317 West Pike Street, Canonsburg. Interment will follow, with Full Military Honors by the VFW Post 191 Honor Guard and the United Stated Navy, at Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township.
