Rosita Roiz Obituary

Our dear Aunt Rose was carried to heaven by our Lord's angels on December 15, 2018, following a short illness. Born on November 24, 1920, in Rio Hondo, she resided there until 2003 when she relocated to Humble, Texas, to be near family. While she adopted Humble as her new home, her heart remained with the town of Rio Hondo and all those who were part of the history of the community and Fred's Drug Store.

Aunt Rose loved family, Rio Hondo, and sports. She was an avid sports fan and regularly followed the Texas A&M Aggies, Kansas State University, University of Kansas, Notre Dame, the Houston Texans and the Houston Astros. She also kept up with the Rio Hondo Bobcats as she could. She loved family gatherings, breakfast out on Saturday mornings, and keeping up with news from Rio Hondo and that of world and current events. She could argue politics with the best of us!

She was preceded in death by her parents, known affectionately in Rio Hondo as "Mr. and Mrs. Fred", her brothers, Fred and wife, LaRay, Al and wife, Sammy, and Ralph. She also had a whole host of cousins in San Benito and although the oldest of the family, she outlived them all. She missed them dearly and we, the remaining Roiz clan, are comforted by the fact she has rejoined those she loved so much.

She is survived by 4 nieces: Linda Kay Baker (J.D.), Kathy Thoman (Paul), Cindy Brackin (Eddie), Michele Heileman (Tim), and one nephew: Michael Roiz (Michelle). She left behind 18 great nieces and nephews and 16 great-great nieces and nephews, including a set of Roiz twins, affectionately known as the "Roiz Boys" and the newest member of the Brackin family.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Heritage Retreat Care Home and the Memorial Hermann Hospice Team for their loving care of Rose. Private family services will be held in Humble with graveside and internment following at Mont Meta Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the entire Roiz clan asks that friends hug each other more, laugh more, root for your favorite ball team this holiday season and take time to remember the good times at Fred's Drug Store.

My deepest sympathies to all the family members of Rose Roiz. I am the oldest child of Mary Clare (Watson) Molitor of Rio Hondo. Although most of the Watsons are gone from Rio Hondo, my memories of going to Fred's Drugstore with my Aunt Lee (Watson) Snowden lives on. Mother spoke fondly of the Roiz siblings and through the years asked about them when she visited her parents on Robertson Road in Rio Hondo. May Rose's memory live on in your hearts forever.
Very sincerely,

This family meant a lot to many of us who grew up in Rio Hondo and knew this family and the memories made at Fred's Drugstore. You were always made to feel so welcome and never forget the soda's and lunch there. Hope Fred's Drugstore remains a landmark in Rio Hondo. I will never forget such a wonderful family and a special place. So sorry for your loss.
