LAUREL - Jerry Dale Linahon, of Laurel, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 19, 2008, after a long courageous battle; he was 58.
Jerry was born Sept. 19, 1949, in Mason City, Iowa, to William Dale and Fern (Gifford) Linahon. Jerry grew up in Iowa, working on the farm with his uncles and driving truck from a young age. His career spanned hundreds of thousands of miles logged as a long haul truck driver and later as dispatcher for Wind River Trucking in Park City.
Jerry's passions were his family, hunting, fishing, camping, raising cattle, dogs, cooking, canning; having coffee with his friends and telling the many stories and jokes he was famous for, as only he could.
Many will miss his unique laugh and wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by the love of his life for the last 22 years, Melba Ganoe of Laurel; daughters Kristal (Rick) Hodges of Redmond, Ore., Nicole (Albert) Herrera and grandson Chance Eastlick of Wichita, Kan.; son Matthew Linahon and daughter Michelle Rodriguez of Redmond, Ore., grandson Kody Plymesser of Titonka, Iowa; sisters Marlene (Jack) Smith of Klemme, Iowa, and Sandy (Mike) Bailey of Kalispell; and numerous nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous close friends.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, March 24, at Smith Funeral Chapel-Laurel, with a reception at the Park City Civic Center following the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Jerry's name to Rocky Mountain Hospice or the American Heart Association.
