Dunnellon - John M. Larsen, MD., 73 of Dunnellon, FL peacefully went to be with his Lord and Savior May 15, 2015 under Hospice care at The Legacy House in Ocala.
John was born October 3, 1941 in Racine, WI to the late Stanley and Inga (Melby) Larsen. Dr. Larsen completed his medical training at Medical School of Wisconsin in 1976 (within five years). He finished an internship with rotations in medicine, surgery and ER at St. Luke's in Milwaukee, WI and later decided to practice emergency medicine. Dr. Larsen was Board Certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Emergency Medicine. He practiced as Owner / Director / ER doctor in Kenosha, WI and ER Doctor in Everett, WA at Providence and Everett General Hospitals. He later worked at Boeing as a Clinic Physician in Everett and at Hanford Nuclear Site in E. WA. After returning to Dunnellon due to his illness, John worked Locum Tenens in various clinics all over the country. He was a Medical Director of ORCA in Ocala and Open Arms Clinic in Hawthorne.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 29 years, Seija Larsen, brother, Timothy (Diane) Larsen of WI/FL, sister, Julie (Bob) Thomas of Dunnellon, children, Steve (Melissa) Larsen and Dr. Dan Larsen of Cottage Grove, MN, Kristen K. Carlton of Warner, OK. and his beloved grandchildren, Colton, Collin, Landon and step-grandchildren, Joshua and Jerad Matkus.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step-daughter, Robin Matkus.
A memorial service celebrating Dr. Larsen's life will be on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at 2:00 pm at First United Methodist Church on Hwy. 40 in Dunnellon.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Child Evangelism Fellowship in Ocala, or Hospice of Marion County (The Legacy House) 9505 SW 110th St, Ocala, FL 34481.
