Cheryl Beatty Obituary

CUYAHOGA FALLS -- Cheryl Beatty, A loving and wonderful daughter, sister, stepmother, aunt, great friend, and my love, my best friend, my wife passed away peacefully on July 7, 2010, with me holding her hand and loved ones around her. This followed an over 3 ½ year battle with cancer, one in which she never gave up and endured the pain within herself, never complaining to others. She died as she lived, courageously, bravely and placing others before herself. God must have a use for another angel because if ever there was one on earth it was Cheryl.

Cheryl, 61, was born April 20, 1949 in Akron, Ohio to H.B. and Ruth Isaacs. She moved to Cuyahoga Falls in 1956 and has lived there ever since. She graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1967 and received a Bachelor of Education from Kent State University in 1971. She primarily worked in banking of one type or another, first at Akron Savings, later TransOhio, and finally Minnesota Title until 2000. She was preceded in death by her first husband, David Sherk, by her father H. B. Isaacs, by Aunt Alma Lee, by her Grandma Donna Logan by former father-in-law Jack Sherk, and by very close friend Phyllis Prinzo. She is survived by her loving husband, Dwight; by her loving and devoted mother, Ruth Isaacs of Cuyahoga Falls; by her brothers, Greg Isaacs (Colleen), Steve Isaacs and Mark Isaacs and Gary Stewart (Cheryl); also by her five stepchildren, Debbie Clapp, Matt Beatty, Denise Lee, Scott Beatty (Susan), and Ellen Howes (Tom); also surviving are her loving nieces, Natalee Isaacs (Anthony), Alyssa Isaacs (Chaz), and Ann Stewart, along with nephew Gary Stewart, Jr. She also leaves behind two additional sisters-in-law, Diana Lewis and Cheryl Isaacs, as well as eight loving stepgrandchildren, Chip, Jennifer, Grace, Thomas, Bradley, Meghan, Troy, and Taylor, and a lovable one-year old great-nephew, Luca (mother Natalee). Also surviving are her Aunt Josie Robinson (Marvin), former mother-in-law, Tena Sherk, and former brother-in-law, Scott Sherk, and Toni Twiggs.

Cheryl loved life, her family, and her friends. Her brothers, nieces, aunts, stepchildren, and stepgrandchildren were the world to her. She put everything she had into her relations with her family and all the everlasting friendships that she had cultivated throughout her lifetime. Cheryl was the most trustworthy, loyal, caring, and brave person you could ever find. She had a knack for human nature and seemed to know what people would do or say before they did it. Some people have one or two really good friends but anyone who knew her just had to be her best friend. She had life-long friends, work friends, and anyone she just met couldn't help but be her friend; and she was a best friend to them all. She was always there, night and day, for them to come for advice, cry on her shoulder or share their joy. She took it all to heart and if you were happy she was or if sad so was Cheryl.

Cheryl was much more than a stepmother and a stepgrandmother. She was a true mother and best friend to all the children and was more of a kind with the grandkids as they were growing up. She never tired of playing any and all games they wanted to play. She loved the games her and the grandkids played on New Year's Eve in Florida and I think she wore the kids out.

Cheryl just loved being with and doing things with all her friends. She loved the movies, popcorn, Andy & Opie, and playing cards or any game you would put in front of her. She was part of a monthly card group for over 25 years and the only thing that could keep her from it was cancer. They were all part of her circle of best friends. Other couples played cards with us and provided her with a night of pleasure and happiness because she was doing something that she loved. Cheryl never cared whether she won or lost. She was that one-in-a-million that simply played for the fun and enjoyment of the game itself.

Cheryl's one small vice which was completely against her nature was that she loved casino gambling. She never smoked or drank her entire life so I guess she was allowed this one thing. But she never strayed from her self-imposed limits. She simply enjoyed the excitement and entertainment value of the experience. We loved traveling to new places so we had an opportunity to visit most of the casinos in the eastern part of the country as well as Vegas, Reno, Tahoe, Laughlin and others.

We have been over most of this country but her favorite place was San Francisco. I so wish that we could have gone back one last time but it was not to be. It was a privilege and an honor for me to be her husband and have her love me.

She was loved by so many people and will be missed by all. We laughed a lot together and did so many things together and I never tired of her company. I simply hope that when I pass on she will be waiting for me as I would be for her.

The family would like to extend special thanks to Dr. Jennifer Payne and Dr. Joseph Burick and all the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff at both Jean and Milton Cooper Cancer Center and Akron City Hospital.

A memorial service is planned for 11 o'clock Saturday, July 10 at the Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home, 1930 Front St., Cuyahoga Falls, OH 44221. Inurnment will be at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park, 2613 Sackett Ave., Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. In lieu of other remembrances, donations can be made to the Jean and Milton Cooper Cancer Care Center, 525 E. Market St., Akron, OH 44309, or the charity of your choice. For everyone who knew Cheryl, this is a devastating loss. There are so many beautiful words to describe her but I think I loved her innocence most of all. I will miss her everyday as my step-mother and friend.

I am so glad Cheryl was a part of my life. I loved her so much and will always be grateful to her. Cheryl did so much for me over the past 30 yrs. She had so many great qualities that I can't begin to name them all. I only wish I could be half as good of a person as she was with her loving & giving ways, never judging anyone for who or what they did in life. She was the most unselfish person I have ever met. Cheryl always wanted details of what was happening in your life and never spoke of herself. I will miss her so much. She will be with me always.

To all of Cheryl's family,
I was so deeply saddened to hear of Cheryl's passing. As a child living next door, I will always remember hearing Cheryl's infectious and uplifting laughter! As much as her loving, caring and beaming personality made an impact on our earth, she is now impacting our heaven. To Mrs. Isaac, I am so sorry for your loss. As you know, you raised an amazing daughter and you must be so proud of all she was, having such a positive impact on so many peoples lives, it must be an honor to be her mother. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers at this difficult time. Lorrie Honeywell Null

To all who so love Cheryl,

May you find comfort in fond memories of Cheryl, which were always so frequently and easily made.

She was my mother's best friend for almost their entire lives, so she has been an aunt to my brother Scott and me since before we were born. She had long ago become part of the family, and so she also was an aunt to my husband Jason Vestfals and me. Cheryl was always ready to share her kindness, love, and quick wit, no matter how long we'd been apart.

Jason and I extend our deepest love and gratitude to Cheryl always, along with our most heartfelt sympathy and thoughts of peace to Dwight and all of Cheryl's many family and friends. What a divine gift we have all received in Cheryl.

We will miss you terribly, Cheryl. Just as you are an angel from Earth, "...flights of angels sing thee to thy rest." - Shakespeare

Cheryl was much more than a step-mother to me. She was my friend, my confidant, my security and my laughter. There won't be a day that will go by that I won't want to pick up the phone and just "chat". My Dad and I will miss our movie days, our times at the festivals, dinners/lunches, and just spending time together. We will take care of each other as Cheryl has taken care of us for years. I love and miss you so much.

My Aunt Cheryl truly was an angel on earth! She fought so hard and never even thought about giving up. She is the most brave, caring, and thoughtful person I have ever met. I will hold onto all the memories she has given me in the past 24 years and cherish them. I hope that as the years pass by, I can take what she has given me and be a lot like her. My Aunt Cheryl means the world to me.

Even tho Matt & I had divorced, i have been blessed by remaining a member of this wonderful family! When I was going thru my own oral cancer just 2 short yrs ago, she called until i could no longer speak, she sent goodie boxes filled with many things she knew i would enjoy or need during my horrible time, when i could no longer speak, she wrote me weekly emails full of love & encouragement! Our Cheryl was that ABSOLUTE one in a million! I will miss her terribly ;-( xoxo
All the love from my heart & soul, Dawn

Dear Dwight and Cheryl's loving family,

I am so sorry to hear of the passing of our wonderful Cheryl. You wrote a beautiful tribute to her Dwight.

Thank you for including Phyllis in it, she so loved Cheryl. It is so sad for us that they passed so early in life. Chery really helped Phyllis during her illness. She always had the right words to make Phyllis smile and feel more positive during her hard times. I loved Cherly with all my heart. I am so happy that Cheryl and my Mom were able to get closer during the past year, my Mom will cherish the talks her and Cheryl had.

Cheryl and I talked the day of her operation and she spoke of her love for you Dwight. I was proud of her for fighting this thing for so long. I thank God she had you in her life.

I do trust in God and I believe he has a place for Cheryl, as he did for Phyllis.

I am sad I cannot be there on Saturday, as I am out of town visiting my daughter.

God's Blessings to her family, I will miss Cheryl in my life, but we will always have her with us in our hearts.
