I can't believe that he has been gone for one year. I can still see myself walking into the tennis club and seeing him sitting at his desk with his feet propped up and him eating his favorite meal, snickers and a diet pepsi!! That was what he called "breakfast for champions". He will always be missed and always appreciated for what he did at the tennis club. It will never be the same with-out Dave Rea the Green Tennis Pro.

I started lessons with dave when I was in 6th grade. He was my first instructor, I took group and private lessons from him for about 3 years, and went to several of the tennis camps he used to run. He was always there to give you advice about tennis, but more importantly just to talk to you about anything. I remember he used to yell at me because I wore jeans several times to my lessons. He was a great guy, and green tennis will never be the same w/o him. God bless.

I just learned of Dave's passing this evening. I am in shock. Dave was such a great guy. I always looked forward to doing drills with him. I had just started back to doing drills this past April after several years off. It was so great to see Dave and the gang again. He was always so fun and quick witted. He was also a very caring person and sooo patient with us wanna be tennis players. I'll miss him.

Dave was a high school friend of mine who I regret falling out of touch with. However, I have many fond memories of Dave. I will always remember him working at Mavis' Sporting Goods in Mount Vernon. He always had a smile on his face and a kind word to share. You have my deepest sympathy on your loss. Dave was a great human being!

Kelly, Kyle, Abby, Ryan:

Working with Dave was a hoot!

He shared many thoughts, jokes, and showed us pictures on the laptop of the kids and things he has done around the house. We would have our "Green Tennis Cookouts" on the portable grill he brought in. We were always laughing and kidding around about even the smallest thing that would happen here at the club or in our lives.

As I told you before, he said you were the glue that held the family together...

Everyday, that I come in I try to think that he is either on vacation, or "running a little late" and will be here after bit.

You are in my thoughts and prayers...

My daughter and I met Dave just a little over a week ago at Tennis Camp. He was so kind to her, she is so shy. He encouraged her, and made her feel comfortable, he was already in our hearts for his kindness. We returned to Tennis Camp on Wed. to learn the unreal news. We are so very, very, sorry. Our hearts are hurting. We miss him and we are praying for you. God Bless you.

Kelly,

It is such a helpless feeling to want to help someone, yet knowing that there is very little we can do to ease your pain. My heart hurts for you and your children... Please know that you have many people who love you and will be here to help you through this.

To the Rea Family: I'm still in shock over the loss of Dave. He was a fixture in my life for many, many years. I drilled in tennis with Dave, along with all the members of my family for more than twelve years. We are all really going to miss him. I will especially miss the way he toyed with me during drills, making me believe that I had a chance against him, or making me look like I was a member of the "Keystone Kops" as he had me running all over the court chasing balls he would hit. Or when he would tell me that I was "missing a good game" when I was not going after a shot that I should have. Dave was a great guy, & a great friend to me & my family for as long as I can remember. We love him, and will miss him deeply. Patrick

Dear Kelly,

I was shocked and saddened at the news of your husband's untimely passing. Remember that God's word gives us hope when we feel utterly alone and hopeless. We can take comfort in knowing that He does not allow any trial in our lives that is too great for us to bear. I pray that the Lord will heal and comfort your grieving heart and give you the strength and courage to persevere during this difficult time in your life. God bless you and your family.

Dave was my neighbor, and only in these last few months did I have the privilege of listening to dave , and laughing with him. Everything I ever saw Dave doing, was for his family. I respect him so much for how unselfishly he loved you all. My Mom always tells me that the human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it. I believe that. So Thank you Dave, for the short but great memories, that I will carry with me in a special place for the rest of my life.

Dear Kelly and Family,

Please accept my condolences for your terrible loss. I went to High School with David and considered him my best friend. Although our lives lead us to different cities I have always kept him in my heart as a close friend that I loved very much. I visited him at your home a few years ago and was instantly aware of his love for you and his children. The tears I cry now for his death cannot compare to those you and your family will shed. However, I pray that God will grace you with strength and comfort in this time of sadness. Cherish the memories of his life. I know I will. My faith affirms my knowledge that I will see him again.

May God Bless You.

Dear Family of Dave Rea: Well, I think Heaven is in for a little tennis lesson or game or two! Dave coached our daughter, Stephanie, at the tennis club. We were to resume her lessons this September and we were so looking forward to another great season. He was a wonderful person and he loved teaching the kids. And he was so GOOD at at! We will really miss him. Our sympathies and prayers to Kelly and the children. I never met any of you but Dave talked about you all often. May the love of family and friends carry you through your grief.
