Gary,
We never met, but I saw you with 1964 at the NJ State Fair, the Valley Forge Music Fair, and then at 3 Little Bakers.
Each show was incredible, and eventually prompted me to become a Beatle Impersonator.
I wish I could have had the chance to meet you, as I never heard a bad word from anyone about you.
You are the type or person that we need more of in this world.
God Bless you for your time here, and maybe down the road we'll catch up on the other side.

Hard to believe it's been a year since Gary passed. He still lives on in our memories and hearts. My family enjoyed the band a few months ago and they sounded great but without Gary on bass, it's just not the same. Suzy and family, our thoughts are with you this season. When you see a sparkle on a Christmas ornament, it's Gary's eyes in reality. God Bless!

To the Grimes family,
I was looking to see when the band would be at Carnegie Hall again and came across this terrible news.I had seen the show with Gary three times and had grown up with the Beatles. I just got chills watching him and he has brought tremendous pleasure to me and I am certain millions of other adoring fans.

I miss you Gary lot,you were such a sweetie-pie & a half.I shall cherish our special friendship & the precious-sweet funny moments we shared together. You were a truly a fab & gear Sir Paul for 1964 The Tribute. You looked & sounded like him in every way that counts. It is no wonder when we first met I mistook for the real Sir Paul, I bet you thought I lost it there. Right Gary? Right! RIP my special & dear dear friend I will see you in Heaven one day.As you used to say always peace my friend.RIP Gary! Your Fan Always:

the first time i saw "the tribute" the curtain opened, and i had a cocktail going to my lips, it never made it until about an hour later; as i was so blown away. i got to meet gary after the show and he was just fantastic. i saw them about 8 times since then, and saw them once after garys death...it is just not the same group without him, and i'd rather watch the utubes with gary.he is missed.

I saw Gary and 1964 three years in a row back in Tulsa, Oklahoma starting about 1984 or 85. Gary was good enough to strike up a casual friendship with me and remembered me each year I came to say hello and get some autographs. Imagine how surprised I was to find that they'd continued performing all this time, and how shocked I was to only learn within the last two weeks that he'd passed away. Godspeed, Gary. You helped give me an experience I thought I'd never have, by giving me a taste of the Fab Four live. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Being a Beatles fan in the 60's,but never got to see them in concert. Several years ago,I went to see 1964 and was blown away by their performance. I became a fan that night, and have seen them several times since. And I got to meet the guys after their concert in Springdale,Ar. Down to earth and really nice to talk to. I kept in touch with Gary by e mail. Thank you Gary for your music and your kindness. You and 1964 brought back a lot of great memories of the Beatles. You were a true gentleman and a great talent and I will miss you.

My Dearest Brother-in-law,I first met you when I was just a lil girl a lil over 30yrs.ago.I am at a loss for words as I have been sinse the day we all found out that you had brain cancer. I want you to know that every time I looked at you I seen STARS,and why my sister fell in love with you.
January 26, 2011
I was a friend of Gary's from High School (class of 67 for me and 68 for him). A word that has been consistently used to describe Gary is "sweet". That is exactly how I remember him. I attended one of his concerts for the first time several years ago with Linda Santschi (high school classmate of Gary's). We went backstage and Gary greeted us graciously, giving freely of his time, telling us about his life, when I'm sure all he wanted to do was get home to his family. He loved his family.
Please accept my sincere heartfelt sympathy.

I did not know Gary personally. I am just one of the thousands of people whose lives he enriched over the years as a member of 1964. I saw Gary and the band live at least 15 times over the years and it was always special and a thrill! I even ordered one of his solo CD's a few years back and Gary was nice enough to sign it and include a note of thanks. What a class act. To his family and friends all my thoughts and prayers are with you. He will be truly missed. From a fan in Massachusetts.

Oh Gary, I'm still unable to believe that you are no longer here just a concert away, another 'reunion' with your heartfelt love songs, your generous heart, your oh so genuine laughter, and the light in your eyes. You brought the Beatles back to my sister Cathi and I wrapped in a beautiful package filled with a thousand happy memories as family does. A brother to Mark, the perfect balance of hearts and talent. I will never forget Cathi giving you her Beatle ticket stub from our 1966 concert...you beamed with pride and often reminded us that it was still in your wallet going everywhere with you:)...after I lost Cathi in 2002, you offered it back to me...but then, that was who you were/are Gary Grimes...it was meant to be yours...enjoy your heavenly graces until our next reunion dear friend...

To the Grimes Family. My thoughts and prayers are with you all in your time of sorrow. I saw 1964 about 8 times over the years, and being a Pro McCartney impersonator with Liverpool Beat, I can honestly say that Gary by far was the best of them all, HANDS DOWN. There is and never will be a better Paul. He was a tremendous entertainer. I wish I had the chance to spend time talking with him. God bless you all and I pray your hearts will be comforted.

We are still shocked and very saddened by this news. The Moody family will miss your charismatic performances. We are left with so many great memories of seeing your exceptional portrayl as Paul. My parents and I first met Gary in 1964 The Tribute at a dinner theater in Delaware a cople years ago. He was one of the nicest people I have ever met in my life. At every show, he would wave to me and smile on the stage. He even dedicated the song, "All My Loving," to me! You will be dearly missed Gary, but I know you are smiling down from heaven. Thank you for the memories; you will always be in my heart. I love you!

Dearest Suzy and Family,
You have been in my thoughts and prayers every day. Now, here it is Christmas Day and, remembering that this was your special time together, words just fall so very short.
I have so many fond memories of our old times together and through the years and distance I have cherished them. Gary was the first true Walk-in-the-Spirit believer I ever met and he helped me to understand that "when we look to the Light, the shadow of our burdens fall behind".
Your wonderful husband and Dad also introduced me to the idea that "I could have conversation with God" and I have never stopped talking to Him since. Thank you Grimes...PEACE

I first met Gary in the mid-Seventies at The Flying Machine in Akron. Having heard the "real" McCartney in concert just a few months earlier, I was amazed. Gary did more justice covering the lead vocal of the song "Letting Go" than McCartney himself! There was nobody better suited to play the part in "1964 The Tribute" than Gary. And what a wonderful person, too. As many have already commented, he had a true charisma on and off the stage, and a sincere warmth for all. Many of my musician friends are also major fans of The Beatles ... and I've heard NOTHING but praise from all of them for Gary's musicianship and talents throughout the years. My condolences to Gary's family in this difficult time. Here's wishing all of you peace and happiness as Gary's spirit lives on in our memories. And, Gary, here's wishing you eternal peace in Heaven. We can only imagine just how incredible the music will be with your talent shining there.

To the Family of Gary Grimes. Gary, Mark Tom and I became good friends over the years, I would make sure that I or my family, or my cousin Dewayne Boblett, would always go to any concert that they would be in, in KY. The first Time I met Gary was in Louisville, KY in the early 90's, I knew the first time I met him that he was one of the most humbling men that I had every met. For that I am grateful. Rhonda said that she will always remember those blue eyes and that big smile. What a professional.

I had the great privilege of knowing Gary since 1990. We first met in Clarksville, Indiana where the group, then called "1964 a Tribute to the Beatles" were going to perform. Having seen the real Beatles in 1966 at Crosley Field in Cincinnati, I was taken back in time on just how good Gary and the band played. We met after the show and talked about Beatle music. My wife and I attended 15 to 20 shows when the Tribute came to our area. The last time I saw Gary was 2008 in Louisville, KY and after the show we talked about our children and grandchildren. He always had a smile on his face and enjoyed playing the music that changed the world. The world has lost another great person and I have lost a dear friend. God Bless you Gary and your family. I know you are in a Beatles band in heaven and playing to the greatest audience in the world. Until we meet again, Peace and Love....

Gary was a "class act," He had a passion for his family, his music, for life, and even his fans - which knew NO bounds - EVERYONE was treated as someone special. To the entire Grimes family, may you have peace knowing all the joy he created in this world. The pleasure he had creating "Paul" for 1964 the Tribute was obvious and gave all of us fans just as much joy. RIP Gary.

My family and I have know Gary since I was 10 an I'm now 29. My father started out running sound for 1964 and my mom and I tagged along. The great thing about this band and about Gary was that it wasn't just a business relationship we had with them. Over the years Gary felt more like an Uncle. I'd hear all his funny stories and about his beloved Indians even though I'm a devoted Red Sox fan. He had a way however to make everyone feel important. I think everyone who ever met him was blessed.

I met Gary when he was with the band Boc at the Flying Machine and seen him over the years with 1964. It was years in between meetings and he had that gift as if you just saw each other and talked the day before. What a great person. You are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult times.

Lori, and to all of Gary's family, deepest condolences at this time of loss. I did not know Gary well. We met several times through mutual muscian friends. Each time we met, however, Gary treated me like an old friend. For these acts of kindness I will always remember him fondly. My thoughts are with you.
