Glenn Mellinger Obituary
Our loving son, Glenn E. Mellinger Jr., 52, passed away February 7, 2015.
He was born in Akron and graduated from Ellet High School. Glenn was a life resident of the Akron - Uniontown area and was formerly employed with the Akron Beacon Journal. He was an avid sports fan and an area high school baseball coach.
Preceded in death by his brother, Mark A. Mellinger. He is survived by his wonderful and loving parents, Glenn and Judy; children, Bethany M., and Christopher "Cubby" Mellinger; brothers, Gregg (Gail), Scott, and Michael (Jody); nephews and niece, Matthew, Aja and Hunter Mellinger.
The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 3553 Northdale Street NW, UNIONTOWN, Ohio 44685 (one block NW of the square of 619 and Cleveland Ave.), where funeral service will follow at 7:30 p.m. Graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Cemetery. Please arrive by 10:45 a.m. (Hopkins Lawver, UNIONTOWN, 330-733-6271)

Being a distant relative of all of you, and playing baseball with and against Glenn from the time we were 10 years old through high school, I have so many great memories of our time together at your house, Davenport, Ellet High School, etc...that while it's difficult to comprehend the fact that he is no longer with us on earth, it is comforting knowing that our Lord has provided a special place for him in Heaven. Please know that our family's thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time and always.

To put into words how I feel is difficult. Growing up with the Mellinger boys was an adventure that I wouldn't trade for anything. I miss Davenport, family picnics at Wingfoot, and being part of a big, loud, wonderful family. Heaven is a happier place today because Markie now has his big brother with him. Much love and prayers to Greg, Scottie, and Michael. And Aunt Judy and Uncle Glenn - I cannot imagine the loss you feel. Know that you are loved and in my prayers. Glennie will be missed.
