Jack Leonhard Obituary
He lived his entire life in Akron, Ohio. He attended St. Mary's elementary school and high school, graduating in 1944. He served as a combat infantry rifleman in Europe during World War ll. He worked for DuPont Elastomer, retiring as a technical representative in 1990. In 1950, he married Winifred (Winnie) Regallis Leonhard. Together they had nine children, Ann Marie (Joe) Takacs, Philip (Sandra), James (Deborah), Rosemarie (David) Schaeufele, John (Cynthia), Paul (Linda), Thomas (Holly), Kathleen Marie (deceased) and Elizabeth Marie (John) Waller. All except Kathleen survive him. Besides Kathleen and his parents, he was preceded in death by his older brothers, Victor and Norman. Also surviving are grandchildren, Margo, Kristin, Joe, Joe, Dan, Sarah, Nancy, Ashley, Jack, Isabel, Michael, Brian, Samantha, Andrew, Natalie, Lexi, Matthew, Hope, Katie, Nathan, Sammy and Jacob; and great-grandchildren, Ashley, Holden, Hunter, Dominic, Clayton and Johnathen and his younger brother, Richard (Carol); dear sisters-in-law, Peg Minor, Angie Leonhard and Madge Regallis.
"No further seek his merits to disclose nor draw his frailties from their dread abode, they alike in slumber sleep-the bosom of his father and his God"
Jack will be remembered for his selfless devotion to his family, his deep faith, his humor and his love for playing cards and games with his family and friends.
The family wishes to thank the staff of the Akron General VNS Hospice Care Center for their loving care.
Mass of Christian Burial 9:30 a.m. Monday, at St. Vincent's Catholic Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery with Military Services by Firestone VFW Post 3383. Calling hours 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, at Ciriello & Carr Funeral Home, 39 S. Miller Rd., Fairlawn.
Memorials may be made to St. Vincent's Church, Francesca Hall, 39 N. Portage Path, Akron, OH. 44303 or VNS Hospice.
