WADSWORTH/TAMPA, Fla. -- Joseph A. Shivak, 71, formerly of Broadview Heights, more recently of Tampa, Fla., died Monday, April 3, 2006, at his residence.
Mr. Shivak was born Jan. 31, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late Albert and Mary (Dorony) Shivak. He was a member of Church of the Incarnate Catholic Church in Florida, where he was a volunteer groundskeeper, a member of the Senior Square Dancers (Temple Terrace Twirlers), Clearwater Yacht Club, the Town and Country Senior Stars, and a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Mr. Shivak was preceded in death by son, Robert Nelson Shivak, and brother, Robert Shivak. He is survived by wife, Elaine of Tampa, Fla.; sons, Joseph (Marlene) Shivak of Wellington, Ohio, Michael (Becky) Shivak of Wadsworth, Ohio; daughter, Therese (Paul) Wyrzykowski of Wadsworth; 10 grandchildren, Joey, Josh, Amanda, P.J., Danny, Audrey, Michael, Amber, Katie, and Daniel; brother, Edward Shivak of Euclid, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at the Hilliard & Mullaney Funeral Home, 174 N. Lyman St., Wadsworth. Prayers Friday, 9:15 a.m., at the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1281 Shannon Dr., Barberton, Ohio, with Rev. Robert Jackson, celebrant. Interment will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1900 W. Market St., Akron, Ohio 44313.
