Peter J. Angelo

Peter J. Angelo, 86, of Kent, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2016 at Kent Healthcare Center, after a lengthy illness.

He was born October 29, 1929 in Canton to Thomas and Francis (Rizzi) Angelo. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Pete was a graduate of Canton McKinley High School in 1948. Pete graduated from Kent State University in 1952 with his B.S. degree in Education, in 1959 with his Master's in Trade and Industry, and in 1979 with his Educational Specialist degree. He was instrumental in developing the Vocational Club V.I.C.A. Pete was highly respected and admired by his peers and students alike. He had a great passion for his work. Pete retired as a teacher educator in Vocational Education at Kent State University in 1985.

Pete was most proud of his family whom he loved dearly. He is survived by his wife, Margaret (Chionchio) Angelo, whom he married on June 28, 1952 at St Patrick Church in Kent; son, Steven (Gina) Angelo of Canfield; daughter, Jodi (Rick) Haught of Cuyahoga Falls; grandsons, Nicholas (Erin) Haught, Jonathan (Taylor) Haught, Christopher Angelo, Andrew (Jessica) Angelo, Benjamin Angelo; a great-grandson, Graham Haught; and brother, Joseph Angelo of Massillon. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Mary Boccuti, Elizabeth Gensley and Antoinette Nicozini; brothers, Louis and Phillip Angelo.

With gratitude from the family to the many caregiving angels who so tenderly cared for Pete at Kent Healthcare, with Active Life Care, Home Instead, and with Great Lakes Hospice. Your support and gentleness are so appreciated by the family.

My father Jack Ward enjoyed working with Pete at KSU for many years. They continued their friendship after they both retired in 1985. My Dad valued Pete's friendship greatly, and enjoyed meeting him for Lunch or Breakfast. Pete also visited my Dad when Dad was in assisted living. I last saw Pete at my father's service when with a tear in his eye he told me that he was going to miss my Dad. I am confident that they both have renewed their' friendship in the presence of the Lord. Sorry to hear of his passing. God Bless Jody, and the entire Angelo family. Jim Ward
