Robert Acker Obituary
Robert D. Acker, 85, of Akron, passed away after a long illness on Wednesday, April 30, 2014.
Robert was born in Akron on March 24, 1929, the son of Gerald and Ruby (Littlejohn) Acker. Preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, June, and brother, Richard, he is survived by his brother, David; children, Mike (Laurie) of Port Orange, Florida, Tim (Amy) of Rootstown, Chris, Jeff, Lisa, and Karen (Kenny) of Akron, and Steve (Michelle) of Yorktown, Virginia; and grandchildren, Erin, Renae, Deirdre, Joey, Leah, and Cyrus.
Robert spent his life in the Akron area. He served in the Army from 1947 to 1951, and then in the United States Air Force Reserves for over 20 years as a communications specialist.
Robert worked at Ford, then A. Schulman Plastics for a time, and finally ended at Chrysler as a door press operator from 1968-1993. He was a member of United Auto Worker (UAW).
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 3, 2014 at Adams Mason Funeral Home (791 E. Market Street, Akron), where funeral service will follow immediately. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery with military rites conducted by VFW Firestone Post 3383. (ADAMS MASON FUNERAL HOME, 330-535-9186)
