Robert Glenn Colbert "Slim", 65, was born on July 25, 1951 and passed away after a short illness on October 17, 2016 with his loving family surrounding him.

He leaves to cherish his memory, devoted mother, Delores Colbert; sons, Jamal Gills, DonTravis "Donny" Gills and Dion Gills; granddaughters, Dione and Jasmine Gills; sisters, Louise Colbert-Bingham (Kevin), Joann Colbert and Arvilla Colbert-Jones; brothers, Todd Burros, Larry Hoyle and Michael Burros; special friend, Ms. Binky.

Friends may call on Monday, October 24, 2016 from 11 a.m. until 12 p.m. (noon) at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd., Akron, OH 44320; service to immediately follow. Interment at Lakewood Cemetery.

Robert Glenn Colbert aka slim to our S. Akron family. Man a lot of memories, a lot of people, a lot of good times come to mind seeing his picture in the paper.

South Akron we did have some good times growing up.

To the Colbert family. I was saddened to hear the lost of my childhood friend Robert Glenn. I would talk to him often from Columbus whenever he would run into my nephew and say call your uncle or aunt. And he would love talking about the old days. He was still that smiling Robert. Always gave me the upmost respect as well as I gave it back to him. Cool guy he was. Gonna miss talking about the old school days and south Akron. The Colbert family has my deepest condolences and may the pain lighten up in the days to come. Mrs.Delores you have my prayers. R. I. Heaven Robert Glenn. He loved talking about my brother Lawerence. Really nice man.

Robert Glen Colbert AKA Slim Colbert to know him at a early age was to be raise up in south Akron, with the Colbert family. If it takes a whole village just to raise one child it was a lot fun, and joy to grow up in the village with Robert. He had a smile that would brighten up the whole room.
To the Colbert family:
Cling to the memories and let them find their way to heal you. The love and laughter, the joy in the togetherness you shared, will make you strong. You'll come to realize that your time together, no matter how long was meant to be and that your blessed to have such a precious gift of love in your life.
