Salvatore ``Sal" Iuliano passed away March 13, 2009.
Sal was born in Akron on April 27 1923. He exemplified what it means to be part of the ``Greatest Generation". Sal graduated early from North High School then served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He came back from the war, married the love of his life, his wife Lucia (DiSalvo), and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Akron.
Sal's career at General Tire spanned 45 years. He started as an hourly worker while attending college, when he retired he was Director of new business development for international. His international experience began in Holland where his son Gary was born. Over the next 18 years, Sal and his family lived in Holland, Morocco and South Africa. However, Akron was always, ``home." Sal also worked in China, India, Iran and Russia on solo assignments. Sal's charm and smile touched many people the world over.
After his retirement, Sal enjoyed traveling with his wife Lucia, volunteering for Inventure Place, golfing with his buddies at Oak Knolls and visiting his son Gary and his wife Becky in Florida.
Sal was preceded in death by his parents, Biagio and Giustina Iuliano; sister Mary Oddo, sister, Beatrice Pucci; and brother, Dante Iuliano.
He is survived by his wife of sixty years, Lucia Iuliano; son, Gary Iuliano, daughter-in-law, Becky (Crowe) Iuliano; brother, Angelo Iuliano; his ``little sister" Lucille Gingo; many nieces and nephews he loved dearly as well as countless friends worldwide.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, 10 a.m. at St. Anthony's Church. Donations may be made to St. Anthony's School, 83 Mosser Place, Akron, OH 44310 or Tidewell Hospice Palliative Care, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, FL 34238.

Dear Lucia, Gary and Becky, We know your hearts are hurting. I watched the wonderful video at least three times, imagining the life you all had together. We're so sorry for the loss of Sal, but what an incredible life he had, so many good memories, and so much love for his family. Please know that we are thinking of you and send our love, too.

Strikingly handsome, an impeccable dresser flashing a warm and genuine smile, possessing a firm but gentle handshake, a quick wit and a well balanced sense of humor. These are but a few of my memories upon meeting Mr. Iuliano some 25+ years ago. Mrs. Iuliano, the evidence that Sal was such a kind and loving gentleman is the kind and loving gentleman that you and he produced. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Lucia, Gary, & Becky-
I was very saddened to hear about Sal's passing. He was obviously someone that really lived every day to the fullest and had some wonderful adventures. While I know that words are only a small gesture of support, I want you all to know that You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers.
"His life earnest, his actions kind,
A willing hand, an active mind,
Anxious to please, loath to offend,
A loving husband, father, & faithful friend."
