Stacie Cross Obituary

Stacie Rae' Cross

Stacie Rae' Cross, 26, of Massillon, went home to be in the arms of the Lord on Sunday, Sept. 24, 2006. Her parents, sister, and friends surrounded Stacie as she made the journey. Stacie fought a courageous battle for over a year against ovarian cancer.

Stacie graduated in 1998 from Fairless High School. She graduated from Emergency Medical Services (EMS) at Stark State College in 1999 and attended Kent/Stark Branch to further her career studying forensic science. Stacie also loved Disney World, and through the college program at Stark State College, she went to Disney in 2000 to work there for a four- month program. Stacie was an employee of American Medical Response (AMR) ambulance in the Akron/Canton area.

Stacie is survived by her parents, Stephen and Jean (Jenning) Cross; her sister, Stephanie Cross; her grandparents, Richard M. Jennings, Orlando (Jack) and Pearl Cross; a cousin, Kathy Jennings and her sons, Chance and Damen (who loved their ``Aunt Stacie" very much; uncles and aunts, Floyd and Carol Cross, Mike and Lorna Cross, Eric and Diane Cross, Dave and Tracie Cross, Paul Jennings; a multitude of cousins and friends, especially her best friends, Felecia Hodge, Johnnie A. Maier III, Lynne Hamilton, Heather Mitchell, Jason Mauer, Deanne Williams, Steve Pyatt, and Melanie Kangus.

Stacie was preceded in death by her grandmother, Gertrude (Riordan) Jennings, in 1994 and an uncle, Glenn Cross in 1977. Stacie enjoyed life, Disney, her job, having fun with her family and friends. Stacie loved her cat, San, and her dog, Sebastian.

The family of Stacie Cross would like to take this time to thank everyone for their support and prayers. A special thanks goes out to all Stacie's co-workers and friends at AMR, Akron City Summa ER, and St. Thomas Hospital ER. We have found that Stacie has a multitude of friends and is loved by all, so many people that it is impossible to thank everyone individually. A special thank-you goes to Dr. James Fanning and his staff for always being there and supporting her. A special thanks to the nurses and staff at Akron City Summa Hospital on the 7th Floor East Oncology Division for the love, compassion, caring, and giving all that they could to help support Stacie. Her parents and sister would also like to take this opportunity to say to their employers and co-workers, "Thank you for all your support and prayers."

Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Paquelet Funeral Home (1100 Wales Rd. N. E., Massillon) and from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Canton Baptist Temple, with the Rev. David Harmon officiating. Interment will be at St. Clements Cemetery in Navarre.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Stacie R. Cross Benevolent Fund at the First Merit Bank in Massillon to help with medical and other expenses. (Paquelet-Massillon, 330-833-3222.).

I think of your family often. There's a show on TV that has a little girl that reminds me of Stacie. I have said to Heather that every time I see that little girl I think of Stacie when she was little. I sure do not understand God's plans for his children. But I don't think that we are supposed to, maybe. I do know that someday we will be joined together again. Of that I am certain. God bless all of you.

My thoughts and prayers to the entire Cross Family, Stacie was one of the first people at AMR who I got to know. I was green and scared to death at what I had gotten myself into, being a pramedic and all...the first week after orientation, She and I took the Stark Orders class together and she spent most of that day explaining to me "how it really is", the ins and outs of the company, She was the first to make me feel like i fit in and show me what a second family we create with one another while we spend our time on shift together.

Stacie was a very special person who touched many lives, mine included; I knew Stacie from working at AMR. You could always count on a smile and a hearty laugh whenever she was around. You can bet she is smiling down on us all now! As with all who knew her, I will miss her greatly, but have many fond memories to keep her close at heart. May you find solace in the memories you share and hold dear, and may God keep you in the comfort of His caring Embrace in this time of need and always. Stacie, until we meet again...
