Steven Kinty Obituary
Steve Kinty, 59, of Coventry Township, passed away February 3, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born June 20, 1955 in Cleveland but was a resident of Portage Lakes most of his life. Steve was a 1973 graduate of Coventry High School, owner of S & R Electric, owner of Turkeyfoot Lanes, member of Bowling Proprietors Association, member of the Pro Bowlers Association and a member of Turkeyfoot Sportsman Club. Steve was the coach for Coventry Girls Youth Softball for 15 years as well as the coach for The University of Akron and Coventry High School bowling teams.
Steve was preceded in death by his father, Harold Kinty and grandmother, Audie Mae Kintyhtt. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Robin; mother, Elma Breitenstine; daughters, Nicole (Sean) Chartier and Apryl (Tony) Swafford; foster daughter, Toni Desure; grandchildren, Zacary, Seth, A.J., Ryder and Baby Lucy; sister, Debbie (Gene) Kalamajka; and many other family and friends.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319 (SR 619), with Rev. Ricky Riggs officiating. Family and friends may call Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorial contributions may be made in Steven's name to the Portage Lakes Fireworks Association, P.O. Box 26923, Akron, OH 44319. we were very saddened to hear about Steve's passing. I'm sorry we were on vacation and were unable to be at the services. Heaven has gained an angel - such a thoughtful man always willing to help and such a great influence on our kids. Your family is in our prayers - I pray for comfort for all of you. I will always remember going with my dad on his bowling league night at Turkeyfoot when I was a kid. Steve was always there with a hug for me. He helped make me the bowler I am today.
