Wanda Pickering Obituary
Wanda L. Pickering, 90, went home to be with the Lord on July 30, 2015.
She was born in Akron on November 15, 1924, to the late Vaught and Bessie Stanley. Wanda was a member of the Firestone Park Mother Singers, a member of Cottage Grove E. C. Church and was retired from J C Penny Company. Wanda enjoyed her music, being with family and friends and taking care of her pets.
Wanda was preceded in death by her husband and best friend, Harold; son-in-law, Keith Hower and daughter-in-law Shirley Pickering. She is survived by her children, Charles Pickering and Shari Hower; beloved grandchildren, Robert (Kathleen) Pickering, Patricia (Ron) McDermitt, David (Kathy) Pickering and John (Alison) Pickering; great-grandchildren, David Jr. (Stephany), Raymond, Alexis, Ryder and Gage Pickering, Drew (Jessica) McDermitt and Shayna (Ryan) Inama; great-great- grandchildren, Madalayna Pickering, David Michael III and Blaire McDermitt.
Funeral service will be Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 11 a.m. at the Cottage Grove E.C. Church, 3133 Cottage Grove Rd., Akron, Ohio 44319 with Rev. Robert Shuey officiating. Family and friends may call on Monday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Schermesser Funeral Home, 600 E. Turkeyfoot Lake Road, Akron, Ohio 44319. Interment will be at East Liberty Cemetery. So blessed to know Wanda when we worked together at Penney's years ago. She was always kind and helpful to all! My prayers are with her family.
