Harry Diamond Obituary
A funeral service for Harry H. (Bud) Diamond, Jr., 84, will be held Tuesday, September 19 at 10:00 am at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 120 East 8th Street in Holdenville, OK. Mr. Diamond died September 16 at his home at Montereau in Warren Woods in Tulsa, OK. Bud Diamond was born in Holdenville, the son of Harry and Dorothy (Fogle) Diamond, and lived in Holdenville until 1996 when he moved to Shawnee. He attended Holdenville schools and Culver Military Academy and graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a Business degree. Mr. Diamond was a member of the Beta Theta Pi fraternity at OU. Diamond's enthusiasm for OU was demonstrated through his support for the OU Associates and the University of Oklahoma Sooner Club. In 1942, Diamond married Betty Lou Malloy, his beloved wife for 64 years. During World War II, Diamond served as a 2nd Lt. in the 961st Field Artillery Battalion. He maintained a continuous membership in the American Legion for over 60 years. During his life in Holdenville, he was an active member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, serving as both Jr. and Sr. Warden. His career in the oil and gas industry included serving as President of Harry H. Diamond Inc. and membership in the Oklahoma Independent Petroleum Assn. and the American Association of Professional Landmen. He was a Charter Member of the Holdenville Elks Lodge, member and Director of the Holdenville Chamber of Commerce, Director of Peoples State Bank and active in the American Red Cross. Diamond's numerous friends and family knew him best for his soft heart and wicked sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Marge and her husband John Gaberino, Tulsa; his sons Jeff and his wife Nance of Shawnee and David of Tulsa. His adoring grandchildren are Christina and her husband, Paul Van Houten of Boston, MA; Megan and her husband, Ed Grefenstette of Pittsburgh, PA; Courtney and her husband, Doug Mertens of Fulton, MO; John Gaberino, III and his wife Margarita of Tulsa; Katie and her husband, Matt Mendoza of Austin, TX; Jeffrey Diamond and his wife, Carol of Shawnee; Jay Diamond, OKC; Jason Moore Diamond of Salt Lake City, UT.
