Kelly Weber Obituary

Kelly Lynn Weber, 49, passed away recently in Santa Maria, California of complications from a short illness. Kelly was born in Oklahoma City on May 27,1959 to Dr. Fred and Helen Weber. She graduated from Midwest City High School in 1977, where she served as Treasurer of the Pep Club. Kelly received her Bachelor's Degree in 1981 from Oklahoma State University. At OSU, she was also an active member of the Gamma Phi Chapter of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority. Kelly continued her education at The University of Oklahoma and graduated in 1983 with a Master's Degree in Social Work. Kelly was very proud to be designated as an LCSW (Licensed Social Worker), concentrating mainly in Family Counseling and Hospice. Kelly was extremely skilled in her line of work and devoted her life to helping others. She was especially interested in worldly issues such as starvation and under-developed countries: Kelly spent time in the Peace Core in Cameroon, Africa pursuing these interests. Kelly was an independent, liberal woman who believed in equal rights for all. Kelly enjoyed completing the Oklahoma Freewheel with her Dad traversing the State of Oklahoma. Kelly moved to California and married her soul mate Tim Heater on August 14, 1993. She was a sensitive and caring mother to her only son, Nathan William Weber Heater. Kelly's love for her family was evident through her kind, genuine nature. Kelly sought to see beauty in all things. The purple Iris flower was especially close to her heart because it reminded her of her Grandma and Grandpa Macomb's garden. She was philosophical by nature as well as an excellent listener. Kelly was proud to be a third-generation Unitarian. Kelly would have wanted the memorial to be a celebration of her life. She will be missed and forever remembered. Memorial Services will be held Wednesday, July 16, 2008 at two o'clock in the afternoon at The First Unitarian Church in Oklahoma City. She is survived by her husband, Tim Heater son, Nathan William Weber Heater (6) father Dr. Fred Weber sisters, Kim Weber Mulinix and husband Russell, Mary Weber, Pam Weber and Rebecca Wilson. Kelly was pre-deceased by her mother, Helen Weber. Kelly is also survived by multiple aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins, including special Aunt Mildred Thornton and cousin Sandra Kay. The First Unitarian Church is located at 13th and Dewey in Oklahoma City.

I was deeply saddened to learn of this tragic news. Kelly's son Nathan attended 2 years of preschool with my children. Kelly was always a ray of sunshine in the classroom and also so very sweet to everyone. My prayers go out to her family.

Kelly and I have been friends for over 30 years. We grew up together and she has been like a sister to me. My thoughts are with her family. I will miss her.

Though it's been years since Kelly and I have been together, I have vivid memories of us giggling our way through elementary, junior and high schools. She and Janie Carson helped Pamela and me celebrate our 5 year old Birthday. We ate out (soup) and went to see Mary Poppins! It was at her big family's dinner table where I learned to twirl spaghetti with a fork and spoon. Kelly, you are missed!

Kelly and I always had a special bond sharing the same first name. It began in 1st grade, when our teacher. Mrs. Webster called me Kelly F. and her Kelly W. Funny thing is we called each other those names grade school - High School. God bless you Kelly W. My prayers are with the family.

I met Kelly when we were both seniors at OSU. What a wonderful person! We were friends for several years after college, and I could always count on her to bring laughter, happiness, and joy to any occasion. She made the world a better place - we will all miss her.

Reading the entry by my sister Lisa Ritter Gates brought tears of sadness to my eyes but knowing the joy Kelly brought to all her friends & family brings tears of joy. The Weber family was joined with ours since 1959 when Dr. Weber delivered Lisa, my baby sister. He took out my tonsils when I was 7 and over the years we connected with their family. Her sister Kim and husband Rusty Mulinix are my friends, and I send my prayers to all of your family that you will find comfort in celebrating Kelly's life.

There is only one word I can use to encompass all my memories of Kelly - laughter. Growing up with her, getting into trouble with her, spending the night with her, sneaking into her parents' room and looking at the pictures in Dr. Weber's medical text books - you name it, we did it and laughed the entire time. I'll never forget the nights Dr. Weber took us for pizza, the slumber parties, the cats, all her sisters....While I haven't seen Kelly since high school, her tremendous sense of humor and joy are still fresh in my mind. My heart goes out to you, Dr. Weber, and all the family.

Reading Kelly's obit brought her back to life for me! I can remember her screaming out in a Ridgecrest classroom after a loud Oklahoma thunder clap...giving all us grammar school kids a break from learning. I can also remember some fun young times in the playhouse behind her house. Finally, Kelly was one of my four bridesmaids since she was not only a childhood friend, but had worked with my husband...She jokingly said she should be in our wedding and was surprised, I think, when I held her to it! My thoughts go out to her family.

I will never forget all the fun times I had with Kelly during our Monroney and MCHS years. And then OSU... I don't think the Alpha Chi house has been the same since the fearsome foursome of Kelly, Karla, Caroline, and I. But what a fun time we had, while still managing to get our degrees! I wish the Weber family peace and comfort during these times. I hope the good memories of Kelly will live in their hearts. She was a unique woman and will never be forgotten.

Words cannot express the shock and sadness in loosing Kelly. For the last 38 years, Kelly was a true friend to me. Even though we were miles apart, we kept in touch with our marathon phone calls reminiscing about our fun days together. The world has lost an amazing person. We will all have a little Kelly with us forever, remember the crazy antics and her bubbly laugh. Kelly will always be my best friend. My heart goes out to Tim and Nathan, Dr. Weber, Kim and Rusty and Mary, Becky and Pam. There is one more twinkle in the heavens for everyone to share. Kelly was a special person and I will love and miss her always.
