Sarah Levine Obituary

Sarah M. Levine took her rest from this life's trevails early on the morning of February 14, 2002 in Boca Raton, Florida. Sarah was born July 27, 1921 to Joseph and Fannie Mintz in New York City and moved to Detroit, Michigan with her parents at the age of 17. She entered the Women's Army Corps in 1943 and served her country in New Guinea winning the Bronze Star. She was discharged in 1945. Sarah married William F. Levine on April 2, 1948 and moved with him to his home in Sentinel, Oklahoma where they continued in the family business, The Dixie Store. A son Tom, was born in 1949 and shortly thereafter the family moved to Erick, OK and started the Dixie Store. A daughter, Patti, was born in 1953. In 1960, the family moved to Hobart, Okla. and opened Levine's Mainfair Department Store. In addition to their business interests, they became active in civic and cultural affairs and remained active members of the community until Bill's death in 1990. Sarah moved to DelRay Beach, Florida in 1991 and continued a very active life. She is survived by son Tom and his wife Eve, daughter Patti and husband, Randy and 5 grandchildren Stephen Levine, Jason Levine, Joelle and Daniel Harbour and Anneliese Lytle. She is survived by brothers Sydney Mintz, Gaithersburg, MD and Sol Mintz of DelRay Beach, Florida. Graveside service will be held Mon., Feb. 18 at 11:30 am at Temple B'Nai Israel section of Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N. Kelley, OKC, OK. Memorial Donations may be made to Hobart Public Library or Hobart Enrichment Fund Foundation for Hobart Public Schools. GUARDIAN NORTH 11600 N. Pennsylvania Ave.
