SHERRY WHITE Obituary

May 18, 1936 - December 24, 2017 OKLAHOMA CITY Sherry Lynn White passed away on December 24, 2017 at the age of 81. Born in Tulsa, Oklahoma on May 18, 1936, Sherry was the only child of Kenneth L. Rinker and Vivian Ferguson Rinker. She grew up primarily in Oklahoma City and she learned about life and hardship during the difficult years of World War II. In 1954 at the age of eighteen, she married her high school sweetheart, Herb Aduddell. Herb was serving in the United States Air Force and was soon stationed at Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. Sherry boldly left Oklahoma for the first time in her life and sailed aboard the SS United States across the Atlantic to meet her young airman in Germany. In 1956 they had a daughter, Christy, while they were still living in Germany. Their second daughter, Julie, was born in 1959 in Lincoln, Nebraska. During the next twenty years, they were stationed all over the United States living in Nebraska, Colorado, California, Florida, Texas and Illinois. They also spent two years stationed near Istanbul, Turkey. Sherry dedicated her life to raising her two daughters. She was always there for them providing lots of love and stability as they traveled from place to place as a military family. It was a challenging life, always on the move, but Sherry always made sure her girls had a warm, loving place to come home to at the end of the day. After Herb retired from the Air Force in 1974, Herb and Sherry moved back home to Oklahoma City where they enjoyed life together near family and their four beloved grandchildren until Herb's death in 1996. Though Sherry struggled to carry on alone after losing her husband of 42 years, she forged ahead with her characteristic determination. Little did she know that she would soon meet a very special man who would give her a whole new lease on life in her sixties. Through a shared love of bridge, Sherry and Ron developed a deep love for one another. They spent the next 19 years joyfully sharing their love of bridge and their love for each other. Sherry always felt incredibly lucky and blessed to have met Ron, and he felt the same way about her. She was also thrilled to have the addition of Ron's sons, Derek and Chris and their families giving her three more grandchildren to love. Sherry will be remembered as a beautiful, loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved to have fun, and her laugh was contagious. She considered her two daughters her greatest accomplishments and her grandchildren were the joys of her life. She loved dogs almost as much as people and she spoiled many fur babies in her lifetime. She had a huge heart and great compassion for the people in her life. If you ever needed to be cheered up, all you had to do was give her a call and she'd have you laughing in no time. She loved bridge, slot machines, animals and most importantly, she loved her family with all of her heart and soul. She will be dearly missed but the values and the legacy she leaves behind will be carried on by those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her husband, Ronald White; daughter, Christy Harger and husband Jim, daughter Julie Hild and husband Joel; stepson, Derek White and wife Lucy, stepson, Chris White and wife Sharifa; grandchildren, Kyle Harger and wife Nicole, Kevin Harger, Ryan Shaff, Jordan Baker and husband Jay, Gavin White, Sean White, Sydney White and great granddaughter, Adley Harger; brothers-in-law, Daryl White and wife, Sherry, Gordon White and wife Judy, Kendall Aduddell and wife Donna; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be at Chapel Hill Funeral Home on Friday, December 29th at 11:00am.
