Wayne Stewart Obituary

Wayne Stewart, 85, of Oklahoma City, passed away April 12, 2006, after fighting a long battle with lung disease. He was born August 26, 1920, to Al and Nettie Stewart, in Sallisaw, OK. After graduating from Sallisaw High School, he attended Northeastern University until joining the Army in 1942. On January 16, 1943, he eloped with his sweetheart, Rosalie Byrd. Following a distinguished tour of service in the Army during World War II, Wayne and Rosalie, moved to Oklahoma City. For most of his career, Wayne worked for Coca Cola Bottling Company as Controller. He was a loyal and dedicated employee for over 40 years and considered his co-workers his second family. He proudly served as a Deacon and Sunday School leader at First Christian Church in Oklahoma City for many years. Wayne is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Rosalie, and their only child, Donna Cohn of Oklahoma City; grandchildren Zac Cohn of Plano, Texas; Dr. Michell Cohn and great granddaughter Jadyn Cohn Sutherland of Oklahoma City. Wayne was a true gentleman in every aspect of his life. He was a loving and kind man devoted to his family and friends. His gentle spirit will be in our hearts forever. His family would like to thank Dr. Waddah Nassar, Good Shepherd Hospice, especially Michelle Billing, and Lackey Health Center for their compassionate care. Memorial service will be held Friday, April 21, 2006, at 2:00PM in the Chapel at Baptist Retirement Village. (9700 Mashbum Blvd., OKC) CREMATION SOCIETY 1145 W. Britton Rd. 843-3345
