RED HOUSE - Mr. Michael G. Hubbard, 65, of Red House, died at Comforts of Home Residential Facility, in River Falls, Wis., Thursday (Oct. 18, 2018) following a long illness.

Born Feb. 15, 1953, in Salamanca, he was the son of the late Marvin and Susan Chopan Hubbard. He was married, in June, 1980, in Salamanca, to the former Melanie Horton Hubbard, who predeceased him in 2013.

He was a graduate of Randolph High School, Class of 1971. He was a graduate of the University of West Virginia, where he played football and received a bachelor of science in engineering.

Mr. Hubbard started his career at Groves International as a surveyor. He loved construction and working outside, and built his first home himself. His work ethic, leadership and abilities lead to a series for promotions. He worked throughout his life on increasingly larger projects such as airports, chemical and nuclear facilities. At the time of his retirement in 2015, he was president and chief operating officer at Rust Nuclear Constructors in Katy, Texas.

Mike was a leader in both his career and personal life. He was a people person and it would be difficult to think of anyone who didn't like Mike. He was honest, loyal, exceptionally generous and loads of fun to be with. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and knew how to cook anything he brought in. He was bright and brave, bold and beautiful.

Surviving are a daughter, Sheila (Kevin) Greaser of River Falls, Wis.; a sister, Sheila Foreman of Alfred; a sister-in-law, Virginia Hubbard of California; two nieces, Allyson (Rob) Morris of California and Erin (Jared) Kurtz of Oregon; three nephews, Marvin Tyler (Chrissy) Hubbard of California, Thomas (Shari Anderson) Foreman of Minnesota and Derek (Jennifer) Foreman of New York; and Mike's "almost brothers", Ozz Schultz, Rocky Brown, Jim Fawley and Sid Horton.

He was predeceased by his son, Michael Matthew "Matt" Hubbard in 2004; and his brother, Marv Hubbard in 2015.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 Wednesday (Oct. 24, 2018) at the O'Rourke & O'Rourke Inc. Funeral Home, 25 River St., Salamanca.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday (Oct. 25, 2018) in Our Lady of Peace Parish, with Rev. Mariusz Sierhart, pastor, as celebrant.

Burial will be in Steamburg Cemetery, Steamburg, immediately following the funeral service.

To Mike's daughter Sheila and sister Sheila. I'm so sorry for your loss. I was very sad to see that he passed. I thought of him often. He a good person always. He was kind and very funny. I think of memory that sticks with me is watching him go through the cafeteria at school with 2 full lunch trays!!! Please know my thoughts and prayers are with both your family's and Marv's also.

I remember Mike although he was 3 years ahead of me he was a nice person and I loved his smile. The lasting memory I have of Mike was on the Randolph football team,I don't remember the team playing against us but it was a home game a little snowing and a bit muddy but it took 6 guys from the other team to take Mike down, one on each arm, one on each leg and two on his back. I am sorry to hear he is gone, my prayers are with his family...Jean Doud Blakeney

Mike,
You are gone way too soon. I was so sorry to hear of your health and then your passing. I pray you are at peace now, in body and in spirit. I will always remember your smile and those dimples, a sparkle in your eyes.. There's a beautiful stone barbecue pit in our family back yard that you built for my father. He loved you too.
