Alvin Canfield Obituary

CANFIELD-Alvin Edward "Ed", age 75 of Fredericksburg passed away Sunday, September 18, 2005 at his residence. He was born October 21, 1929 in Ft. Frances, Ontario, Canada to Alvin and Verna (Tyler) Canfield. On August 20, 1955, he married Myrtle Kathleen Alder in Crystal City, Manitoba, Canada. Mr. Canfield served in the US Air Force from 1949 to 1953. He was a retired customer engineer for IBM. He was a director for Light for the Lost in the state of Nebraska for 10 years as well as a Sunday School teacher in Omaha and Kerrville. He was involved in the nursing home ministries at Edgewater Care Center and a member of First Assembly of God of Kerrville.
Mr. Canfield was a devoted husband who loved his family and friends and was a dedicated Christian. Survivors include wife, Kay Canfield of Fredericksburg; sons, David Canfield and wife, Linda of Oelwein, IA and Jim Canfield and wife, Carol of Euless, TX; sisters, Marie Hyatt of Ft. Frances, Ontario; Lillian Risley and husband, Claude of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Ruth Vey and husband, Dave of Comox, British Columbia; brothers, Charles Canfield and wife, Susie of Ft. Frances, Ontario and Glenn Canfield of Ft. Frances, Ontario; five grandchildren, Jonathan, Jillian, Joslyn, Ryan and Rebekah Canfield.
VISITATION will be held Sunday, September 25, 2005, 1-5 p.m. at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home with the family receiving friends from 3-5 p.m. at the funeral home. SERVICEs will be Monday, September 26, 2005, 1:00 p.m. at Omaha Christian Center, 4215 North 92nd Avenue, Omaha, NE, officiated by Pastor Ed Helmick. Interment will be at Westlawn-Hillcrest Memorial Park in Omaha, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Light for the Lost, 1445 N. Booneville, Ave., Springfield, MO 65802-1894.
