Barbara Sandstedt

1930 - 2026

Barbara Mary Sandstedt passed away peacefully on March 24, 2026, in Omaha, Nebraska. Born on June 1, 1930, in Omaha to Bailey and Mary Landrum, Barbara was the younger of two daughters, alongside her sister Dorothy.

Shortly before graduating in 1948 from Omaha South High School, Barbara met her future husband, Richard ("Dick") Sandstedt, who had recently returned from serving his country in World War II. She invited him to the Sadie Hawkins Dance-an invitation he happily accepted-and from that moment, their 67 year journey together began. Barbara and Dick were married in June 1950 and went on to raise three children.

Barbara devoted several years to raising her family before beginning her career as an executive secretary at Bozell & Jacobs, where she worked for many years until her retirement in 1987. She and Dick enjoyed their winter stays in Southern California, and Barbara especially treasured her time with her grandchildren. She had a lifelong love of dogs, reading, and volunteering in her daughter's grade school classrooms in Ventura, California.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Sandstedt. She is survived by her children Nancy Sandstedt, Thomas Sandstedt, and Carol Hunt (Jay); grandchildren Jennifer Hunt (Scott), Jake Williams (Charlene), Ben Sandstedt, and Melinda Sandstedt; and three great grandchildren.
