Beth Devitt Obituary

Devitt, Beth L.

March 27, 1949 - January 28, 2022

Elizabeth "Beth" Diehl Devitt, age 72, of Omaha, passed away on Friday, January 28, 2022, at home with family by her side.

She was born to parents Wallace "Wally" and Medora Diehl on March 27, 1949, in Sioux Falls, SD. Beth grew up in Sioux Falls and graduated from High School in 1967.

Beth met Al Devitt while both were attending South Dakota State University. They were married on April 17, 1970. They lived in Sioux City IA, in Morris MN, in Viborg SD (where they owned Viborg Drug for 15 years), and finally in Omaha for the past 30 years.

Beth enjoyed raising her five children, summer vacations at Lake Okoboji, winter cruises to the Caribbean, large, monthly family birthday celebrations, eating out and not having to clean up the kitchen, watching her grandchildren's games and activities, and afternoon and evening outings with the "girls".

Beth was preceded in death by her parents, Wally and Medora Diehl; and brother, Michael "Butch" Diehl.

She is survived by her husband, Al Devitt; children: Kerry (Jerod) Erickson of Omaha, Ryan Devitt of Chicago IL, Craig (Rebecca) Devitt of Omaha, Stephanie (Zack) Tupper of Gretna NE, and Daniel (Franceska) Devitt of Omaha; thirteen grandchildren: Brianna, Kian, Hannah, Tullulah, Madeline, Alice, Sophee, Joseph, Stefka, Annabelle, Miguel, Tyler, and Malka; her sister, Margaret (Peggy) Younger of Sioux Falls; plus, her many nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved dearly and touched deeply.

MEMORIAL MASS will be Wednesday at 10:30am at St. Stephen the Martyr Catholic Church. VISITATION with the family will be Tuesday from 5-7pm at the Pacific Street Chapel, with WAKE SERVICE at 7pm.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the famiy for later donation.

Woody and family,
I am so very sorry to learn of Beth´s passing. The kids and I have such wonderful memories of our backyard shenanigans (P-Mooney in the sandbox is one!) in South Shores. Beth was the best backyard neighbor and friend-always had her door open and a fresh cup of coffee ready! Deepest of sympathy from all of us, and much love and support to you all during this time.
