We all know that Dan´s top loves in life were Jane, his boys, and Che'. But he also loved nature and especially flowers. Dan shared this love by photographing many different species and many of them are on display at the Geriatrics Center. He also shared many varieties that he grew on his farm. I loved his single leaf peony which he would leave bouquets of on my porch. When he divided plants from the farm, he would gift a portion to anyone interested. He gave me part of his single leaf peony many years ago and it still flourishes in my yard which I have moved from place to place and shared with others. Each spring I look forward to the most spectacular flowers from a plant that grows stronger and more robust with each year that passes. It will always bring me , as well as those I´ve shared with, fond memories of Dan.

Dan was part of our Saturday morning coffee & lively conversation group, that included Dick Holland, Mike Hill, John Cavenaugh, Rick Dooling and myself. Each of us had our area of expertise, Dan, physician extraordinaire with a deep knowledge of insects, Mike Hill, Oscar winning film editor for Ron Howard, Rick, novelist & law professor at UNL, John, former Congressman and myself, photographer of golf courses. Originally a lunch group, things changed as Mr Holland aged and was no longer able to go out...we´d meet at his house on Saturday mornings and muse about the world...mostly politics because we were all members of the "rabid democrat" club. Things changed when Dick passed in 2016, we began to meet on the deck at G1510, Mike passed in 2023, now sadly, Dan. RIP, I was pleased to call you my friend...
