Of Omaha, Nebraska and Naples, Florida.

Preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Arthur Paul William Rismiller and Dorothy Molores Rismiller, and his sister, Karen Rismiller Clay. Survived by wife, Anne; children, Cynthia "Cindy" Rismiller and David Rismiller, Jr.; three grandchildren: Charlotte, Adam, and Theodore Hedican.

Mr. Rismiller served as Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of FirsTier Financial, Inc. and of FirsTier Bank, N.A., Omaha. He was also Chairman of FirsTier Bank, N.A., Lincoln, and served as director of all three organizations. Prior to joining FirsTier Financial on May 2, 1988, he enjoyed a long association with Commerce Bank of Kansas City, N.A., joining the Bank as Senior Vice President in February of 1974. He was elected a Director of the Bank in October 1975 and was named President in January 1979. He served as the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City Tenth District's representative on the Federal Advisory Counsel. He was affiliated with numerous charitable and business organizations in Kansas City, Omaha, and Naples. He was a director of Duncan Aviation, a Governor and Treasurer of the Knights of Ak-Sar-Ben, Director and Chairman of the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City, Director of the Omaha Chamber of Commerce, Treasurer and Governor of Joslyn Art Museum, Director of the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, and was President of the Forum Club of Southwest Florida, among others.

Mr. Rismiller's greatest affiliation was to his alma mater, The Ohio State University. He served on The Ohio State University Fisher College of Business Dean's Advisory Council and was a lifetime director of The Ohio State University Foundation. He received the 2000 Ohio State University Fischer College of Business Distinguished Alumnus Award. In 2002/2003, he established the David A. Rismiller Professorship in Business at Fisher College, and in 2008 established an endowed Chair in Finance at Fisher College. In 2009 he received the Foundation's Gerlach Award and the Alumnus Award from The Ohio State University. He was an avid Buckeyes football fan.

Mr. Rismiller attained the coveted rank of Eagle Scout in his adolescence. With a Direct Commission, Mr. Rismiller served in the Air National Guard. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Ohio State University and was a graduate of Stonier Graduate School of Banking.

Family will receive friends Sunday, August 28th, from 4-6pm at West Center Chapel. FUNERAL: Monday, August 29th, 11am, at West Center Chapel. Private Interment: Forest Lawn.

I so cherished the many years working with your husband and father to bring forward his passion to make The Ohio State University better. I hope to see all of you in Columbus wearing scarlet and gray to not only cheer on the buckeyes, but, the memory of you husband, father and grandfather.

Dave and I met at the Huntington National Bank in 1971 where he was a commercial banker and I had just been hired to assemble a credit analysis department. We soon became friends as Dave mentored me in banking. When I was offered a job back in Honolulu as chief financial officer at a construction company, Dave encouraged me to take it to round out my experiences. A few years later, Dave called me in Honolulu to offer me a job at Commerce Bank running its credit department, and later he sponsored me to attend Stonier Graduate School of Banking. The point is that Dave was always supportive, always advising, always encouraging. Dave's calls over the years continued to be more than catch-up, learning what I was doing, asking if there was anything he could do for me. No one could ask for a better mentor for one's career. I am sure that there are other people who have benefitted from Dave's involvement in their lives. Thank you, Anne, for sharing Dave with all of us.

So sorry to hear about Dave's passing. He had such a wonderful career in business, community and philanthropy. More importantly he was very engaging personally and always interested in befriending and assisting others. He will be missed by all of those who knew him.

I was so saddened to hear of Dave's passing. He was a role model for me in all things OSU and as a businessperson and friend. What you and he did (and do) for the community is truly amazing. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and the family. Sending a big big hug to you dear lady and hoping to see you at OSU in the future.
