Freddie "Cook" D. Lentz

January 21, 1933 - December 26, 2025

Freddie "Cook" D. Lentz entered into the arms of our Heavenly Father on Dec. 26, 2025.

Preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Viola Lentz, and his daughter, Caroline Carritt (Kevin).

Survived by his wife of 65 years, Lois; Son, Tim (Charyl); grandchildren, Timmy, Madison, Caleb, Parker, all in Lincoln; Kyle and Jeff in Omaha.

He graduated from Long Pine High School in Long Pine, NE, and served four years in the US Air Force. Later he earned his bachelor's degree in engineering technology from University of Nebraska at Omaha. He was employed with the Nebraska Dept. of Roads for 50+ years in a variety of positions and was a Plan Reviewer/Engineer since mid-1970s, before retiring at 78 years old.

Cook and Lois exemplified a dedicated commitment to marriage and family. Cook was known for his patience, strong work ethic and sense of humor. To his children/grandchildren, he was not only a hero but the best dad/grandpa, a steady guiding presence, whose legacy of kindness and devotion will be cherished forever.

VISITATION/WAKE: Friday, Jan. 2, 2026, 5 to 7 p.m. with the Wake service at 7 p.m., St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 18602 West Maple Road, Elkhorn.

FUNERAL MASS: Saturday, Jan. 3, 2026, 11 a.m. St Patrick's Catholic Church, 18602 West Maple Road, Elkhorn. Lunch will follow at the church.

BURIAL: Saturday, Jan. 10, 2026, 11:30 a.m. Grandview Cemetery, Long Pine, NE. Lunch will follow at the Sandhills Lounge, Long Pine.
