August 17, 1933 - July 28, 2021
Age 87. Preceded in death by parents, John, Sr. and Earla (Oshel) Elftmann; and sister, Lillian Jane Goetz. Survived by wife of 62 years, Martha "Marty" Elftmann; children, Karin Elftmann-Gross (Jimmie), Linda Hanson (David), and John Elftmann (Karen); grandchildren, Rachel Lucas (Kevin), Matthew Moore, Rebecca Cartwright (Mike), Patrick Hanson, Christina Hanson, Sarah Elftmann, and John "Jack" Elftmann; and six great-grandchildren.
VISITATION: Saturday, August 7, 3-4:30pm, followed by FUNERAL SERVICE at 4:30pm, both at Bellevue Memorial Funeral Chapel. INTERMENT: Monday, August 9, 1pm at Omaha National Cemetery, with Military Honors by Offutt Air Force Base Honor Guard and American Legion Post #331. I had the honor of working with Col Elftmann twice, 1976 and again 1979-1980. He and I became very good friends and I stayed in touch with him for several years after I retired from the Air Force April 1,1980. I lost track oh him and Marty after he retired from the Air Force.
