September 24, 1941 - April 5, 2023
John "Jack" R. Smith, 81, died at his home in Columbia, SC, in April 2023. Jack was born and raised in Dow City, IA, and spent most of his adult life with his wife and 3 daughters in Omaha, NE. Jack was a proud and humble veteran of the United States Air Force and worked as an actuary for 30 years at Mutual of Omaha and Physicians Mutual.
Survived by his wife, Kathy Smith of Columbia, SC, and daughters, Rachel Smith, Sarah Smith, and Erin Smith.
Graveside services will be held at the Dow City Cemetery on June 10th at 11am, followed by gathering at Brasel Hall- Dow City, IA.
