Joyce Carden Obituary
Joyce was born in Mead, NE, in 1931 to Joseph and Leila (Gilchrist) Johnson and loved by family and friends for her gentle spirit and dry humor. She went to Mead Public School where above all she met her lifelong friend, Betty Jo; a blessing many do not get to enjoy.
She loved to travel but was more passionate about and dedicated to parenting her son, Kerry and daughter, Rhonda. That passion underlies her being an extraordinary mother. Part of caring for them was working to support them. A few years were spent as a receptionist for a group of physicians in Wahoo, NE. Then she spent about 40 years as an executive secretary at Schering-Plough Pharmaceutical of Elkhorn, NE.
She passed on December 25, 2024, surrounded by love.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Leila Johnson; siblings, Genieve Hilfiker (Everet), Elwyn Johnson (Carol), Joan Blankenship (Jim); and grandson, Jeremy Carden.
She is survived by children, Kerry Carden (Deb), Rhonda Carden; grandchildren, Travis Carden (Yonah), Trevor Carden (Jacque), Kelley Carden-Murphy (Alex); great-grandchildren, Isabella, Sophia, James and Andrew.
There will be no services. Private interment at Morningside Cemetery, Mead. Memorials in care of the family. Visit www.marcysvoboda.com to leave condolences.
