Michael Fitzsimmons Obituary
November 13, 1959 - April 16, 2021
Michael Lee Fitzsimmons, age 61 of Dannebrog, originally of Cedar Rapids, Nebraska passed away on Friday, April 16, 2021, at his home with his family by his side, due to pancreatic cancer.
Survived by his wife, Beverly Fitzsimmons, of Dannebrog, NE; children, Erik (Rachel) Fitzsimmons of Wahiawa, HI; Tonya Fitzsimmons, of Offutt AFB, NE and Bryan Fitzsimmons (and friend, Katie Mayes) of Grand Island, NE; grandchildren, Lillian and Tristan Fitzsimmons of Wahiawa, HI; parents, Richard and Maurine Fitzsimmons, of Fullerton, NE; sister, Becky (Harry) Hillman, of Villa Ridge, MO; brother, Patrick (Natalie) Fitzsimmons of St Edward, NE; mother-in-law, Esther Ambrose of St. Paul; sisters-in-law, Michelle Boyle of Australia, Barbara Ambrose of St. Paul, NE; Linda Ambrose of Yutan, NE; brother-in-law, Craig Ambrose of St. Paul; numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by grandparents, William and Pearl Fitzsimmons; John and Ona Steffes; father-in-law, Milton Ambrose; brothers-in-law, Carl Ambrose and Joe Ambrose.
VISITATION: Wednesday, April 21, 2021, 4-6:30pm, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Farwell, NE. A Rosary will follow at 6:30pm at the church. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Thursday, April 22, 2021, 10:30am, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Farwell, NE. Father Alex Borzych and Father Rayappa Konka will be presiding. Following Church Services an excellent meal will be provided at the Farwell Firehall. BURIAL: Friday, April 23, 2021, 2pm, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, NE. Memorials are suggested to the Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, Dreams for Veterans, or St. Anthony's Parish. Jacobsen-Greenway-Dietz Funeral Home in St. Paul has the honor of assisting the family. I worked with Michael at the VA. He was truly one of the nicest, most considerate people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. He was also all about doing the right thing at all times. He will be greatly missed by many. You are all in my thoughts and prayers!!!

Fair Winds and Following Seas Chief, we have the watch. RIP, and Thank You for your service! I lived in St Libory, farming from age 5-10, then moved to Grand island till I enlisted after graduation in 1980. We have commonality. Best to your family.

Michael! You don´t know me but l read your obituary in G.I. Newspaper, l was in the Navy also and was stationed in pearl from 65 to 69.When l read your own obituary l was pretty impressed, sounds like you were a heck of a man. God bless your beautiful family and Rest In Peace. From a navy brother.
