I have known Pat since he and I were 13 years old.
He enjoyed his life and lived it to its fullest. He was a high energy person who was always "doing".
Pat was a bright man of many strengths and passions. As a young man, he was terrified of public speaking and yet this became his greatest strength. He learned how to openly express his opinions & beliefs despite consequences. His sense of humor endeared him to others. He was a leader & a mentor for many. He had a way of encouraging others "at the right time". Pat always kept his word. If he promised something, he would do it.
Patrick was loved by many. He had the ability to listen and to feel people´s concerns. He was not afraid to speak up when his cohorts were silent. He was a man of action, not talk.
Pat put his family and friends first in his life. His church, his sporting adventures, and his politics were close seconds. .
What a true sportsman he was! He loved hunting, fishing & kayaking, especially when Ben could accompany him. A small consolation: he died doing what he loved.
Pat was an enthusiastic booster of the Huskers; his crazy Nebraska attire always made me chuckle.
Pat took great pleasure in the time he spent serving his church at the Cloisters on the Platte.
His Life was a Race he Won. Good bye my friend!

Oh, Pat. Why did you have to leave us now? You were a fighter for truth, justice, and the American way. And we sure could use someone like you back on the State Board of Education.
My condolences to Marie, all of Pat´s family, and to all of us who knew him and were inspired by him.

My heart aches for your family & our party. Ditto to Robyn Terry, Pat always had such spunk and boldness! I loved him for that & he was a good mentor & fought for many good causes! He will be missed. So happy to hear he enjoyed his time at the Cloisters .

Pat and I met over 50 years ago through my mom who worked at the local drug store on Center St, and where his dad owned a gas station just a few doors down. He has been a part of my past and we shared many wonderful times and memories of our families over the years. My heart is broken over losing such a wonderful and loving man who suddenly was taken from all of us.
I share in your sadness and loss. Prayers and masses will be said for Pat, you, and all who mourn his passing. I know you will treasure all the special moments and memories you shared.
He will be remembered with love.
As long as we have memories, he will continue to live on in our hearts.
And he will raise you up on eagles wings..
Marie, may you have peace in knowing he touched so many lives and made the world a better place!

Jim and I are so sorry to hear about Pat´s death. He went out of his way to help me when he was at Center Bank and I was a kid just starting to make my own banking/financial decisions. I´m sure it was because he was one of my brother´s best friends but I never forgot it. It seems he has just always been part of our family. He will be so missed.

Pat was a much loved friend and mentor to me. He will be greatly missed for his humor, his blunt honesty and his encyclopedic knowledge of Nebraska politics as well as his insane love of baseball especially the CWS. Marie, my prayers for peace to you.

Marie and Family my heart is just sad for you. There are few willing to give so much for their community because often, that comes at great cost. Pat knew this and continued to give anyway because he could not sit on the sidelines. He was part of the pack, always. Nothing fired him up more than an injustice. I´m sure he is already organizing the ranks of Heaven as I write this :-) Marie, we will see you soon, Robyn

I didn't agree with much of anything with Pat politically, but at least he would say out loud in public and on his blog what the rest of the NEGOP say behind closed doors.
