Sandra Peterson Obituary

Sandra Kay Peterson

March 13, 1943 - July 31, 2024

Sandra Kay Peterson, 81, of Glenwood, IA, passed away at her home on July 31, 2024. She was born March 13, 1943 in Council Bluffs, IA to Bernard and Maxine Roenfeldt. Sandy was raised on the farm in rural Malvern, IA and graduated from Malvern High School in 1961. She attended Drake University for two years. She went back to college in her mid 50's and earned her Bachelor of Education Degree and taught Montessori for 10 years.

Sandy met the love of her life, George Burton Peterson, and they were united in marriage on June 30, 1963. To this union three children were born, Georganne, Jonathan Burton and Jonelle Kay. They resided in the family business where Sandy had lived for the past 61 years. She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and played the piano for many rural churches throughout the years.

Music was her passion and she thoroughly enjoyed teaching piano lessons from the time she was in high school to the present time, even serving at piano contests as a judge. Her current and former piano and Montessori students affectionally referred to her as "Miss Sandy". Sandy was a member of SWIMTA and Council Bluffs Music Teachers Association for over 50 years. She was a member of PEO Chapter FF for many years.

She loved spending time with her grandchildren, taking them shopping and out to eat. She lived in an apartment attached to the mortuary and was very compassionate to the families who lost loved ones. Her smile and caring heart will truly be missed.

Preceding Sandy in passing were her parents; husband; and grandson, Taylor Harold Williams. Survivors include her children, Georganne and husband Roger Williams; Jonathan and wife Michele Peterson; Jonelle Walter; grandchildren, Aidan Peterson, Ronan Peterson, Blaine Walter and Blaire Walter; extended relatives; and many friends.
