DOROTHY,

WORKING WITH DAN MADE IT EASY TO GO TO WORK EVERYDAY. HE WAS MORE LIKE A FRIEND THAN A BOSS, YOU COULD TALK TO HIM ABOUT ANYTHING. I DON'T THINK IN 4 YEARS THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN DAN GET ANGRY ABOUT ANYTHING. HE WAS ALWAYS SMILING AND LAUGHING. HE WAS JUST GREAT WITH THE CUSTOMERS, SOMTIMES HE EVEN TALKED PEOPLE OUT OF BUYING SOMETHING BECAUSE HE COULD FIX IT INSTEAD OF THEM HAVING TO SPEND EXTRA MONEY, BUT DAN WAS LIKE THAT. WE MISS HIM AROUND HERE. TOWARDS THE END DAN KEPT COMING IN THE OFFICE TO TRY TO HELP WITH THE ADJUSTMENT WITH THE NEW OWNER. DAN WAS THE BEST BOSS I HAVE EVER HAD AND HE WILL ALWAYS BE IN OUR THOUGHTS AROUND HERE. (JOB WELL DONE)

The four years we spent together at DePauw and the Phi Psi house formed the foundation for a life long friendship. Dan was unique, one of those people who injected energy into you instead of leeching it away. I will miss him....My greatest sympathies to Dorothy and the rest of the family

Mr. Petticrew,

We met you on October 2, 1999, which was when Julie and David were wed. You were "the life of the party" at the Reception, surrounded by all your wonderful relatives and friends. It was obvious you had always spread joy, fun and laughter, not only there, but throughout your life, when you were in the presence of anyone.

You had a beautiful Daughter, whom you loved so much, and she and her wonderful husband, David, gave you an adorable Grandson, Lil' Will, which was your "pride and joy."

You had a wonferful Son, Jeff, who loved you, and made you proud of him. Therefore, your goals were fulfilled with your children.

You fought the battle well, and now God has called you Home to receive your rewards and spread your joy among His Angels in Heaven.

With our love and caring thoughts to the Petticrew family,

Mark E. English

A piece of all of us at North Central High School (1960) and DePauw University (1964) is gone with the tragic loss of Dan. He always provided leadership to both institutions. Through his example, Dan leaves us with a renewed commitment to be the best that we can possibly be for our families, our institutions and our Country.

Dan, I remember how proud my class of '62 was of you and your group at the Phi Psi house. You were winners then, and since then. As a 9 year cancer survivor myself, I am especially saddened at this time. My wife of 41+ years, Joyce, and I will attempt to be there for you and your family on Saturday. Many of my friends here in Houston have been praying for you since we were told of your battle. God bless you.
