I have just learned of Dr Sherman´s passing, although I have thought and talked about him many times over the years I never thought to look him up and thank him which I dearly regret.
I am one of Dr. Sherman´s patients, I was only 17 years old when I suffered a gunshot wound in the leg one late night in June 1981, he saved my life, and my leg. He grafted my artery in my left leg with a vein from my right. I always felt I got very lucky that night to have gotten him as my surgeon and knew somehow someone sent him from above, but now realizing how very lucky I was and how grateful I am still today. I am 57 years old now and I have four beautiful children and a great life and I still work. Thanks to Dr. Sherman´s Knowledge and determination,I heard he went through two teams of nurses that evening in surgery as well.
I have recently gone through a third hip replacement and right before surgery I thought dear god please let the surgery go as well as my first one and let the surgeons hands be as steady and great. Very blessed. I would like to thank his daughter Barbara Sherman Simpson, it must have been hard to share your father with so many people but I would like to thank you for your sacrifice as a small child and understanding that he was helping people, my prayer goes out to you and your family this holiday season and let you know I remember and think of him often Dr. Paul Sherman as a great person and a wonderful surgeon. And now I know he was a great father and grandfather. GOD BLESS YOU ALL And thank you,

I'm so sorry to hear the death of Dr. Sherman. As the Fire Marshal for the City of Winter Park, I had the pleasure to meet and work with him on several occassions. He will be surely missed. My deepest condolences go out to his family.

Please accept my sympathy for you and your family. You all are in my thoughts and prayers. Dr. Sherman was a wonderful man with a unique sense of humor. I was blessed to have known him. Let this poem be of comfort to you and your family during this time of need.
When the warmth of the sun touches my face,
I see your smile and feel your embrace.
I hear the whisper of love in the wind
And I know that you are close to me again
The rain speaks of tears and the thunder of pain,
But soon the sun comes the earth to reclaim.
As the days come and go and the world moves on,
I know you're still here, you'll never be gone.
On the night the Angel came and took your hand,
We cried as you left for an unknown land.
But Heaven rejoiced as you came into sight,
For your soul was a diamond, shining so bright!
