ROBERT METHENY Obituary

METHENY, ROBERT ARLIE "BOB" , passed away Jan. 2, 2010, after a year-long illness at the age of 54. He dealt with his illness with courage, grace and humor. Bob was born in Zama, Japan on Aug. 29, 1955, as the seventh of seven sons of Willie and Arlie
Metheny. He followed the tradition that his father and four brothers set by proudly serving in the United States Army. Bob later went on to spend over 30 years in financial services in Tennessee, AK, and Central Florida. He was the Senior Vice-President of Investment Services at the Independent Banker's Bank of Florida. Bob was an avid tennis player and photographer. He loved the water, and most enjoyed spending time fishing, waterskiing, and relaxing at the beach or in the pool with his family and friends. Bob is survived by his wife, Frances, of Sanford, FL; daughter, Kate Hanney, of Memphis, TN; son, Frank Hanney(Kelly), and granddaughter, Violet Hanney, of Queen Creek, AZ; brothers, Bill Metheny (Dixie) of Bridger, MT; Gary Metheny (Dianne) of Conway, AK; Jim Metheny of Conway, AK; nieces: Melissa Hays (Jim) of Conway, AK; and Michelle Quick (Chris) of Chantilly, VA; nephews, Ray Metheny (Paulette) of Vilonia, AK; David Metheny (Kelley) of Conway, AK; and Donald Metheny (Sabine) of Aurora, IN; as well as several grand-nieces and grand-nephews. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. Celebration of life will be held Tuesday, Jan. 5, at 6 p.m. St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Lake Mary. Baldwin Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 County Rd. 46A, Sanford, FL 32771 407-322-4263.
