As the months and yrs have passed like 20ish, and we have returned to life's adventures . You and your family are always in my thoughts. Always sending hugs and blessings their way. Of course you know this already, I talk to you often. I Miss your presence my life, miss knowing that you are out there doing your thing, raising and loving your family. Growing into the best man you could become. Knowing that you were out there to pop in and say hi and grab a hug and catch up. It was a truly a gift to have had you in my life.

Some things in your life and some people come back in your memories when you get older. I was the Army Casualty Assistance Officer assigned to help young Jill Roberts wade through the bureaucracies of Army policies and paperwork now almost 20 years ago. I was there also to comfort her and make sure she had someone to turn to. I spoke at Bobby's funeral. I never met Bobby, but I knew exactly who he was and the things he experienced. I experienced them too decades earlier. He was my brother in arms. We both signed up in the Army because we were both American patriots. Jill was a sweet young mother that was robbed of her husband that she and her young child needed. I was impressed then about her kind nature and hope the years since then have treated her better. Jill, you are in my thoughts as I write this, and I pray life has treated you well.

i'll never forget the first day I met Bobby. We both ended up at the Army Housing assignment office on the same day. At first they told us both there were no openings and to come back another day. At the last second a different employee called me and Bobby over to her desk. She said, "she just found 2, first floor (out of 4 floors, no elevators!) newly renovated, never lived in apartments!" But they were earmarked for Officers or High ranking Sergeants. But it would be our lucky day and she decided to make an exception for us. That day, Bobby and I (both Privates) moved in directly across from eachother in our brand new apartments. Both newly married and with sons 1 year apart we quickly became close friends with Bobby, Jill and Jacob. As a medic assigned to Bobbys troop before Iraq and with C troop during the deployment, his death has had a profound impact on me. It has affected every part of my life, still to this day.
Bobby was one of the good ones! One of those few Genuine , Loyal , Good....Souls. And I miss him every single day.
I am using this drawing I made to have a couple dozen window stickers made, if anyone would like one please contact me and I will send you a couple, until I run out .

I just ran across this not long ago when I was looking for old friends. I am so sorry for your loss even this long after. I hadn't seen Bobby since back in 7th grade before I moved. He always made me smile and was a great person. RIP Bobby

Seven years later I still see CPL Roberts face as I held him in my arms on the way to the Aid Station on BIAP. My soldiers and I were first on scene and I loaded CPL Roberts in the back of my HMMWV and rode with him on that cold November night giving him whatver comfort I could offer. I carried his body into the Aid Station and laid him on a gurney, gently and with the utmost of respect as I am a former Cav Scout myself. I then went back to my building on BIAP and cried. I still do today. I had never met CPL Roberts before that night but he was one of ours, a Soldier. I still see him some nights and wake up with tears in my eyes. He is so peaceful and smiling while I am crying uncontrollably. Rest in peace my Brother, and visit me when you can for you will always be in my heart and mind.

Holding you all in my thoughts and prayers.
The Wind on The Downs
“I like to think of you as brown and tall,
As strong and living as you used to be,
In khaki tunic, Sam Brown belt and all,
And standing there and laughing down at me.
Because they tell me, dear, that you are dead,
Because I can no longer see your face,
You have not died, it is not true, instead
You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe;
I hear you laughing as you used to do,
Yet loving all the things I think of you;
And knowing you are happy, should I grieve?
You follow and are watchful where I go.”
(Written by Marian Allen during World War l )
Two lines that I wish you to keep near your heart…….
“You seek adventure in some other place.
That you are round about me, I believe”
I did not know Robert, but I am remembering
his service and sacrifice. He is my hero. !

The Other Side
i'm over on the other side
where life and death softly divide.
left my skin and bones behind
now i'm over on the other side.
can you feel me there with you?
my breath is gone but i'm not through.
loved you then and i still do
from over on the other side.
i can fly. really fly.
below the earth ... all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.
it's good here on the other side.
the sweetest songs...the bluest skies.
thank you for the tears you cried
but it's good here on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth...all through the sky.
tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side
the world is smaller than a needle's eye.
where life and death softly divide.
when you leave your skin and bones behind
i'll be waiting on the other side.
i can fly. really fly. below the earth ... all through the sky.
go tell em all i did not die.
i'm just over on the other side.

My deepest respect & honor goes out to Chuck & Joann Norman. You have faced what a parent should never have to face. I hope that God has guided your path to know that Heaven needed a HERO back in 2003. My heart pours out to you - I wish that the Patriot Guard Riders would have been there for you, but the PGR was only a thought in someone's mind. Today I share with you my appreciation of your son and for the nation he protected and defended. Know in your heart, you are not forgotten and neither is the sacrifice that Bobby made for all of us to enjoy Freedom. God Bless you!
Forever Free,
Kat

It is never easy to say "Good-bye" to a loved one. The things you try to remember and the things you try to forget, all a part of the life left behind.
I never had the pleasure of knowing Cpl. Roberts nor did I have the Honor of standing for him at his funeral and rendering a well deserved salute for this True American Hero. Cpl. Roberts, you are not and will not be forgotten. Though I didn't serve with you, I served and that makes us forever Brothers.
In Psalms chapter 23 it is written that "...He makes me lie down in green pastures, He leads me beside quiet waters, He restores my soul..."
Your watch is covered, Cpl. Roberts; rest in the peacefulness of Gods green pastures with the assurance of a job well done.
"...but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:30

Bobb-o, today is a very difficult day for the family. It was just 3 years ago we got the dreaded news that you gave the ultimate sacrifice doing what you loved. Jacob looks more and more like you everyday, and he is so proud of his haircut - he says "I look like my Daddy". We all miss you and love you so much. I know you are watching over us!
Love you Bobb-o,
