Russell Martin Carpenter

1937 - 2024

Russell Martin Carpenter, of Oshkosh, was born in Borth, Wisconsin on August 5, 1937, to Martin and Bertha (Gehrke) Carpenter. He died on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at the age of 87. Russ grew up on farms and went to school in Oakdale, Allenville, Winneconne, and Seymour. For 4 years he served in the Air Force. Then he worked at Coca-Cola and Leach Company. Russ was a construction worker and welder for 33 years and worked for C.R. Meyer, Boldt, and Ganther. He could repair just about anything. After retirement he did wood working making shelves and bird houses. He and Shirley babysat their grandchildren when small and Russ was always building things for them to play on while at their house. He was a great dad and an even better grandpa. Russ was a hard worker and was always doing yard work and shoveling snow. He really enjoyed riding around on his John Deere. Russ and Shirley were married on October 17, 1964, and were married for 58 years until her death in September 2023.

Russ is survived by sons, Scott (Renee), Brian, Chris (Danna); daughter, Catherine (Joe Urban); two granddaughters, Kiera and Courtney; two sisters, Joyce Beulen, Donna (Bob) Kalbus; and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sister, Bernice Zehner Felper; and a daughter-in-law, Judy.

Russ' family extends special thanks to the Park View Health Center staff for their kindness and care these past few months.
A private service, military honors, and burial were held at Lake View Memorial Park, Oshkosh.
