William F. Kraniak
William Francis Kraniak went to join the Lord on July 2, 2024. He was born November 4, 1935, to the late Francis and Madeline (Briggs) Kraniak. After graduating high school, he served two years in the Korean War. Upon returning home he married the love of his life, Alice (Oliver) Kraniak. He then attended two years at Michigan State University obtaining an Agriculture Degree. This helped him pursue his passion toward farming with his wife and children by his side. He also worked at Saginaw County Road Commission for 25 years, retiring in 1990. This very dedicated man had love for his faith, family, fishing and farming which kept him young at heart.
William (Bill) is survived by his wife Alice (Oliver) Kraniak whom he married May 10, 1958, making it 66 years together. Bill and Alice had 3 sons and 2 daughters, Bernard (Julie) Kraniak, Margaret (Steve) Fitting, Susan (Jeff) Murphy, Michael (Linda) Kraniak and Ronald (Leah) Kraniak. Their grandchildren are Alisha (Brent) Hoffman, Ben (Rene) Kraniak, Joe (Jessica) Kraniak, Kyle (Molly) Fitting, Kalie Fitting, Linsey (Jacob) Wardin, Dylan (Beverly) Murphy, Garrett (Megan) Murphy, Carter Murphy, Jeffery (Jackie) Schaff, Joslyn Myers, Jacob Kraniak, Grace (James) Desotell, Hope Kraniak and Abigail Kraniak. Bill was blessed with many great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Bill's siblings are Tom (Rita) Kraniak, Mary (Doug) Sharpe and Jim Kraniak. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Madeline Kraniak, John and Mary Oliver, along with his brother, Michael Kraniak and sister-in-law, Joann Burgess.
The Funeral Liturgy will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, 2024 at St. John XXIII, Sacred Heart Church, 445 S. Midland St, Merrill, Ml 48637. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the Liturgy. Rite of committal will take place in St. Patrick Cemetery in Ryan. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Heartland Hospice or St. John XXIII Catholic Church. All of us at Ware Smith Woolever are honored the Kraniak family has entrusted us with the care of their loved one.
