From an early age, my grandpa taught me the meaning of service through his contributions to the Humane Society & Habitat for Humanity. There wasn't a trip to visit them where we also weren't visiting the places he helped and loved so much. I'm involved in so much philanthropy now because of the impression he made on me. I will also never forget all of our visits where we got to sit at his bar as he made us an endless amount of Shirley Temples. He was such an amazing grandpa and person.

My grandpa was a kind and good man. He had a way of putting people at ease. His volunteerism with the Humane Society and Habitat for Humanity have left a lasting impression on my life. Sometimes it feels like just yesterday that we were sitting in the yard along the banks of the St. John´s River with the Spanish moss swaying in the breeze.

Don was the "Funcle" who made us laugh, shared his wisdom, compassion and joy for life. Whether we visited Auntie Jo and Don in St. Louis, Coral Gables or Palatka we were welcomed, embraced and felt at home. His embrace of our mom, his sister-in-law, as a "partner in fun" with Joey allowed her to visit places she would not have done on her own. Oh, the stories they could all tell! He will be missed by those many whose lives he touched.

He was known to me as Uncle Don. Brings back many memories in St.Louis and Palatka.

I mourn the passing of Don, my stepfather, since I was 13. He taught me so much, from how to fix things to proper manners. He was always so supportive of me and a wonderful husband to my mother. He was also a saint in visiting the nursing home where my mother was staying almost every day when she was there. The world has lost a strong power for good. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him
