Joe will lovingly be remembered by his wife, Jennifer (Bruno) Recarey, and by their minor sons, Jack Recarey and Peter Recarey, and his adult children, Isis Recarey and Joseph Recarey. In addition to his wife and children, Joe is survived by his parents, Elva and Jose Recarey of Palm Springs, FL, his sister, Liz Castellanos (Rick) of Lake Worth, FL, his in-laws, several nieces and nephews and many adoring extended family members and numerous friends. Born on June 5, 1967 in Queens, NY, Joe moved to Florida with his family when he was 13 years old. He graduated from the Police Academy in 1990 and pursued a career in law enforcement. He joined the Palm Beach Police Department in 1991 as an officer and was promoted to police detective in 1994. He was responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of the security camera systems throughout the Town of Palm Beach Joe had many fond memories of his years with the police department, including meeting his wife, Jennifer. In 2013, Joe retired as a law enforcement officer as one of the most decorated Detectives in the history of the Palm Beach Police Department, and accepted a position to work in the private sector. He joined Gold Coast Beverage Distributors, the fourth largest beer distributor in the country as the Director of Loss Prevention. As grandparents of mid school and young high school students, we wish to echo the sentiments and observations expressed so eloquently by Heather on November 29, 2018.

Our prayers for the future well-being of each of you in Joseph's family will continue. We will pray, as well, for Joseph's vindication as a superb investigator; proceedings seem poised to go forward in upcoming court filings that may yet, God willing, lend support to his tireless efforts. And we will always remain grateful for his unwavering tenacity and professional ethics.

I am a mom who just read in the Herald about the tireless efforts of this amazing man and former law enforcement officer. I am praying for your family to recover peace and joy as you mourn his loss. It is so heartening to hear about such an exceptional man working so hard to uphold the laws of our country and protect exploited little girls. Please know that millions of people give thanks for your beloved Joe. The Herald story is a testament to Mr. Recarey, who, along with the other upstanding law enforcement officers who fought for the wounded, was not intimidated or seduced by the powerful people still committing an appalling miscarriage of justice.

May God bless your family, and thank you for sharing him with us. He is an inspiration to all who believe we are a nation of laws, especially those laws protecting children. May peace be with you.

I happened upon a fascinating read of your relentless pursuit of a Palm Beach billionaire in 2006. I then did a search to find out what such a talented criminal investigator did after retiring from the PD. I was heartbroken to find your name listed alongside the word Obituary.

The narrative of your life paints a picture of a talented, dogged and selfless criminal investigator.
Although our paths never crossed, I would have been honored to have worked with you here up North.
Rest in eternal peace, Detective. Thank you for your service. You can never know how many lives you've touched, so just know it's far more than you'd think.
May your family find solace knowing that you made a difference, you made the world a better and safer place.

One of the finest officers and detectives I have ever served with. A friend, a professional and a damn good cop to say the least. He always made me laugh even on the toughest calls. He will be greatly missed by me and so many others. God Bless his familiy. - Tim Lewis
