Arthur Ackerman Obituary

Arthur "Art" William Ackerman
Art Ackerman, of West Palm Beach, Florida, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2021 at the age of 72 after a long battle with Lung Cancer. Art was born in Seattle, Washington. He served in the United States Air Force and was a Veteran of the Viet Nam War.
Art later met - and soon after married - the love of his life, Billie. He went on to work as an Air Traffic Controller. This work required that he and Billie relocate often. They were able to move back to the Seattle area to be near Art's aging parents. Art promised Billie they would someday return to her family home, and staying true to his word, they returned to retire in West Palm Beach.
Art will be forever remembered by all who knew him for his incredible kindness, compassion and humility.
He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Billie Drosakis Ackerman; his sister, Kathy; his nephews, Jonathon (wife, Anne), and Jason (wife, Katie); his nieces, Jamie (husband, Le) and Jennifer (husband, Brian); his great nephews, Aiden, Jack, Johnny Lee, Joe, and Griffiths; his brothers-in-law, John and Jim; his sisters-in-law, Georgia and Connie, and his life-long friend, Billy Irla.
To honor Art's memory, the family requests donations be made in his name to the Lung Cancer Research Foundation (https://www.lungcancerresearchfoundation.org/)

You could search the world and never find a better man in every way. Art was my sister’s husband and my brother in law for over 40 years. The only regret I have about Art is that, because they lived in several areas of the country due to Art’s career, we missed a lot of years together. We did have as many times together as we could and they were all wonderful. Art & Billie had a fairy tale marriage. They always treated each other with respect, kindness, and love......ALWAYS LOVE. Art was self sufficient before he met Billie and stayed that way after they married.....he cooked (and did it very well), cleaned, ironed, etc. Billie was one lucky gal. Not to say she didn’t pull her weight, because she did. I think of Art and the first thing that comes to my mind is his voice and the way he said, “Hello Georgia Jean”, when I would call Billie at home. I was honored to know him and he will be in my heart forever.......I love you Art. May your memory be eternal ❤❤❤❤

Billie, I did not know Art well, but I do know how close the two of you were throughout the years since it was my honor and joy to participate in your wedding. You are always, always in my thoughts and prayers. May such deep devotion as you and Art shared sustain and steady you in the days ahead.
